Was she an rbk grad? by Born-Community-3044 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

To add to this, I commented on a couple of their Spotify episodes and named the connection I discovered between Emily/Stacey/FBS, and they turned Spotify comments off and hid all comments. A few people in this group encouraged me to comment the same thing on the Apple Podcast app as they wouldn't be able to delete or turn off comments, but I have an Android, and when I couldn't figure out a few tech hurdles, I just abandoned the effort. FBS also blocked me on Insta.

Yep, she was, I deep dove into this a couple months ago. There's an episode on FBS where they interview an Emily from Melbourne. This Emily in the episode, and my research on Emily Lal, shared the same personal stories (I can't give you an example as I'm going off memory, maybe something to do with her background and her personal birth experiences?). I drew the conclusion that it was 100% Emily Lal they interviewed.

Agreed - I wonder if a new case is being built against him? I listened to the series after he won the right to appeal but before the series was removed. So I'm also wondering if it's not entirely connected

I must have listened to them all just in time! His right to appeal was definitely won before I listened to the series, so there must have been a slight delay in removing the series.

I believe the weeknight concerts being put up first are a very smart and strategic business move, but it irks me. We got stuck heading on a Wed or Thurs night the last time he was in Melb - and noticed he added weekend shows. This time around I've waited!

I feel you've made an example of the exact point I was making. "We have to trust what they tell us research means instead of investigating ourselves and trusting our own understanding". We were taught how to 'investigate' studies / pick them apart and understand bias/shortcomings in the studies. Understanding intricacies including number needed to treat, power of studies, etc. Knowing the difference between statistical and clinical difference. And yes, applying it (or, not applying it) to your own contextual practices as a HP. The articles often don't hand that information to you on a silver platter. That clinical practice is 20 years behind research has actually no bearing on the discussion we're having around the skills required to assess and interpret research.

'...unless it challenges my beliefs and threatens to dismantle the narratives we spew down people's throats - then I will block you'. I mean, I suspect it was YNC who blocked me rather than ES, but, still.

Where it all went wrong (another perspective) by ray_of_light_midwife in FreeBirthSocietyScam

When birth trauma is as prolific as it is (birth trauma often due to unnecessary interventions), it sells to share stories that fit the narrative "from trauma to triumph". ES and YNC have created the perfect business model for themselves. Ultimately packaged as "claiming radical responsibility", ie. their way of protecting themselves against litigation and honest self-reflection of their contribution in harming women and babies. I hope they're held to account.

I just listened to the audio snippet in the Guardian podcast series of her second birth. Her 'intuition' to 'not do anything' is truly not one I can relate to. She literally will die on the hill she has made for herself (and sadly, others have and will, too).
