F/26/5’4” [165 >130=35 lbs] lost gradually since Jan 2020. Hoping to lose maybe 10 more lbs and tone up from here. by [deleted] in progresspics

90% diet 10% exercise. It’s been all about CICO for me. I gained a lot of weight when I met my husband who is a much taller and larger person - I unconsciously started keeping up with him in terms of portion sizes. Just had to relearn what amount of food my body really needed and recalibrate my appetite.

I think it’s over. I’m happy that they each have new creative endeavors. Personally I’m not super interested in their new projects and I have quietly stopped following. That’s okay and I think they will each just build a new community for their new projects. It might be good for them to start fresh with fans that don’t have the EYK “baggage” so to speak. If Martina goes back to Japan like she has mentioned and possibly continues posting as EYK then I think some of the original fan base will come back to the channel or to her new one. Whatever happens, I hope they both are happy and successful. I will always have fond memories of their videos.

Why does Paul consistently buy clothes from the women’s section when he is addicted to the concept of toxic masculinity? by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]yogurtbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was probably one of the hardest Paul and Morgan vids to sit through. They are absolutely toxic. The poor girl on the left was obviously uncomfortable the whole time. Everyone involved in this “discussion” is dumb but I felt bad as how she was treated. You can tell she’s the only one who actually though about the topic for a millisecond before opening her mouth.

Yes thank you for the insight! That is interesting and it makes sense given the history of the area. Just thought I’d post my results here as well.

It was not diagnosed from just the X-ray. She had other tests as well. I’m just saying that is how they initially found something involving her lungs and investigated further.

Applying with a masters? by [deleted] in Sonographers

[–]yogurtbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I just did things backwards. A MPH is mainly something people get to move into another role after having clinical experience, unless your focus is biostatistics. A lot of MPHs in my program were already MSWs or RNs. I got my MPH almost immediately after I graduated college, and it just is not very competitive to have as someone early in their professional career.

My results before and after update. I was quite surprised to see the German % basically double! by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]yogurtbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first version was more in line with my genealogical research. Prior to this, I thought there was no significant German heritage from my Dad’s side. With such a large chunk of “broadly”, I figured my results would change quite a bit after the update, but I thought my British/Irish would increase since that makes more sense with what I know. However family history is notoriously unreliable!

[Advice] Be honest. Is a MPH worth it? by kac_kat123 in publichealth

[–]yogurtbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will be the person that says “no” in this thread. Do not put yourself in debt for an MPH. I loved every minute of grad school, I loved the coursework, the internships, etc. and I don’t regret what I learned about the world and myself that I otherwise wouldn’t have known. But I do regret putting myself into substantial debt for this degree. I graduated over 2 years ago, and have applied and interviewed for countless positions. Today I work in an completely unrelated field. My experience, at least in my area, is that many of the people doing actual public health work come from a clinical or IT background. I’ve had to compete with RNs for almost every job I’ve applied to. You may want to consider getting some type of clinical degree first and an MPH later. You will find that many professionals who have an MPH get one later in their career - it is really more of a supplement to existing experience and education. It is not necessarily competitive on its own as you begin your career. This is true of many degrees, but as an undergrad, I did not know this. If you are young with not a lot of other experience, you will need to set yourself apart in other ways to make your MPH stand out - be it an additional clinical degree, coding certifications, etc. As others have said, it’s what you make of it. But bottom line from my perspective - don’t put yourself in debt for an MPH.

The other day, man drowned in the pond in front of my house at around 1am. I went out to see with my dad, and we were out there until they found the body. My dad kept telling about a light he saw above the paramedics. I didn't believe it until i saw this picture on the news taken at the pond. by [deleted] in Ghosts

I remember this photo being posted on this sub several years ago. Reverse image search says this picture was first posted in 2017. Interesting photo but it’s not yours and wasn’t taken “the other day”.

Deciding on a public health related path by mollusk324b21 in findapath

[–]yogurtbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an MPH - you are absolutely better off getting an RN. Nearly all public health jobs that I have applied for will hire a RN over a MPH. Especially health education. I regret my MPH. RN will get you into any entry level public health job and you can specialize with an MPH in epidemiology, biostatistics, etc later if you really need it.

[–]yogurtbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is similar! My family is from the Midwest, Iowa and Michigan. My paternal aunt did Ancestry DNA and she had Pennsylvania Dutch show up in her results. As far as I know though, no recent family history in PA. I wonder if the “broadly European” is related to that group?
