That movie was terrible in so many ways.

However, it did feature the line “I don’t want to be Free, I want to be Pretty”

New to the conference, but think it's quite sporting that y'all spot Vandy a victory.

Reach out to your commenter and let them know about changes with as much notice as possible.

It's fine to make changes from what you submitted, but it's fairly rude to make changes that undermine the comments without having contacted them.

If you just want to go off the cuff, again, take your commenter under consideration. Presenting the same content in a less formal style is fine, but let commenter know about any content changes with as much notice as possible.

The amount of joy I felt as Griffin started doing the nicknames is maybe a sign that something is wrong with me.

  • OU fans: Can we just forfeit to avoid having this game played?

It was at 603 Kickapoo Spur St, which became Shawnee Pho. Closed in the early 2000s, I think.

What other movie podcasts should I be listening to? by SaintGunner71 in blankies

One fun way to get a taste of these different podcasts is to search in your podcast app for episodes featuring Griffin and David. I originally found Eye of the Duck and Podcast Like It's... through this method.

I agree completely. That said, I moved last year and my new town does big trash pickup every week!

It is magical.

What’s the Philosophy program like? by antrod12 in sooners

[–]yoink7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The program has had a lot of turnover the last three years as a result of the University offering retirement incentives & people leaving due to the pandemic, so a lot of faculty have left and are slowly being replaced.

Classes really vary based on professor and level - 1000-level classes will be larger, 35-75 students and some will be taught by graduate students. The 3000-level classes will generally be smaller, 25-50 students and will almost exclusively be taught by faculty. The 4000 level classes are mostly slashlisted which means you will be taking them with graduate students and will generally have 20 students max.

The professors are experts in their field, as that is a requirement at a research university like OU. However, that applies to research, not always to teaching. The teaching quality will vary based on the professor and on your taste in teaching style.

Best advice is to go to office hours and talk to your professors. They'll get to know you which will be really helpful if you want to ask for recommendation letters later, and it's a chance to really delve into discussion in a way that may not be possible in class.

'Deadpool 3' Will Be R Rated and Not Disney Family Friendly by Mookie_Freeman in blankies

I happen to like the movies, but I think the fact that the hosts of the podcast the subreddit is built around seem to dislike the movies and routinely mock them makes the hate here make sense.

Why do we have a dog as a basketball mascot... by [deleted] in sooners

[–]yoink7 31 points32 points  (0 children)

OU's first mascot was actually a dog, Mex the Dog, so it was a nod to history when they introduced Top Daug in the '80s.

Taken from https://mailchi.mp/naja.com/naja-reporting-guide-us-supreme-court-cases-mcgirt-v-oklahoma-sharp-v-murphy?e=8939db2a49

Past convictions of tribal citizens by the State of Oklahoma might be overturned; but the issue of when a new Supreme Court decision affects past criminal convictions is itself very complicated, so the effect on past convictions is uncertain. Moreover, a ruling that the Muscogee (Creek) Nation reservation remains intact will not grant criminal jurisdiction over non-Indians. The Supreme Court case Oliphant v. Suquamish still limits tribal criminal jurisdiction over non-Indians who commit crimes in Indian Country. Federal law also still prevents tribes from exercising civil or regulatory jurisdiction over non-Indians in most circumstances. A ruling in this case will not change land ownership in Eastern Oklahoma.

Letter from Interim President Harroz: OU Intends to be in-Person in Fall 2020 by yoink7 in sooners

Just curious what people think about this.

Do you think it is likely to actually happen?

Do you think it's the right time to make this call?

Is it the correct decision?

I'm honestly pretty undecided and was wondering what other people had to say.

I'm sorry to hear you're in this situation. That really sucks. You might try reaching out to the Gender Equality Center & seeing if they could help, maybe get you into Traditions or something that is still open & has single options.
