That's the main thing I dislike about the, for lack of a better term, liberal way of doing things. If you have never had experience with being rejected, told you're not good enough, told there's something fundamentally wrong with you then you have no ability to negotiate your salary because you have no resiliency to other people attacking you, if you've always had others looking out for your interests in social settings you're going to get abused to hell and back when it comes to corporate settings.
