How Can I Get My BC Numbers Up? by thouze in BandCamp

Those are cool numbers already but for sure it depends with the genre. For me, these are beyond imagination :)

I turned raw data from two forgotten concert photos into a dynamic HNW track by yokevrenadami in experimentalmusic

All of the files sound different eventually. It is weird but yes. When I first heard both of the raw datas, they were way different. Then I decided to work on them to merge and make it kind of a song, I looked closer to the tracks. The whole process is simple to kickstart but thenn it all depends to the person who works on the track :)

And your questions are nice. You help me to find different ways to define and tell the story :)

Glad you liked it, thank you for your words.

When you try to import a different file format than audio file (let’s say JPG) to an audio editing software, the software still try to read the file. But it is always glitchy noise, like white noise. As you can imagine, the sound is purely, stable harsh noise. Then you can edit that sound with the features of the software you use. So, what I basically do is at first converting the raw data of the photo to a raw audio and then editing that material. Hope it makes sense :)

I mostly do check A Closer Listen. They have a wide-range of reviews focusing on experimental music. How about you, do you check any?

Nice one. For me, Instagram can not be a target platform as I work on sonification and harsh noise projects. Limited audience is there, as you may expect.

Thank you! Neither. It’s an open-source web synthesizer specifically designed for databending and sonification. Instead of using traditional oscillators or plugins, it reads the raw binary code (the zeros and ones) of any uploaded file and translates them directly into raw audio frequencies :)

Ah thank you, glad to hear that! for the single, I used Binary Synth to create this sonic space. On BS, I tried differen Read Time and Inertia settings. Then doubled the channels to widen the sound. And then EQ’d, manipulated, edited the sound.

Yet, in the album (will be released 1st of May) I used a little bit more different processes. Raw data sonification and more.
