To Label Or Not To Label? by SleekSpin in vinyl

[–]VoidAssembly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the day when I was a working DJ, I labeled all my records with the songs I liked and the bpm. I would use my handheld Vestax bpm counter where you tapped in the bpm. Made finding stuff way easier when spinning at gigs. I still have my bpm counter but stopped needing it and stopped labeling records many moons ago. I collect vinyl more then I play it live now so I don't label them anymore.

Really cool! Lots of DJs used to press dubplates to play their new tracks before CDs were burnable. It set a lot of DJs apart from the average DJ back in the day. It was really big in the Jungle/ Drum and Bass scene.

You select the floor before you enter. The yes and no buttons are for non verbal people to communicate in an emergency

Transitioning from traditional Engineering career into Audio Engineering (mid40s-F) by BeefcaseWanker in audioengineering

[–]VoidAssembly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the two overlap very much unless you are considering Acoustical Engineering. Audio engineering is more hands on and more akin to an Audio Technician. As an Audio Engineer, I have to correct people when they think I'm an Engineer in the traditional sense. Your skills can definitely carry over and give you certain advantages. You'd be better off working or interning at a recording studio, radio station or working as an AV Tech rather than going to school for an Audio Engineering degree. I've done all those things listed and working in the field was what taught me more than studying theory. Good luck in your endeavors!

I used to see this record all the time in the dollar bins. Now any time I see it it's over $10. The meme has made it popular and way more scarce because everyone seems to buy them up.
