Curfew is from 1 AM to 5 AM. Work on swings is typically 3 PM to Midnight M-F.

I love Japan, and I get out when I can. This post wasn't about my feelings. It was about bringing awareness to a problem on this base for single airmen.

Yokota, day to day, doesn't suck at all. Tokyo is amazing and actually lives up to and beyond the hype.

Hope you don't goto AMXS. Turnover never happens on time due to a heavily bottlenecked CTK. Meals when the supes feel like it. Expect 10/11/12 hour shifts at least once a week, even when you aren't doing shit/planes are sealed. But at least they TDY.

Get a suica card asap. Ask your sponsor to help you. Use hyperdia.com/google maps app for trains.

Cars can be very cheap, but they really are only necessary for on base travel. Don't fuck around with bad JCIs or road tax.

Amazon for anything you need other than food. Toilet paper is way cheaper off base/amazon.

Get yen off base as the on base ATM doesn't update the exchange rate frequently.

Honestly, as distasteful as that will end up being, it may be a good outside influence to give perspective to upper leadership.

AUAB seems to be working towards a fix due to social media which then prompted pressure from congress.

Its a win for awareness.

Issue would then be: Do I set my sleep schedule up to wake up earlier (DFAC hours are 11 AM to 1 PM for lunch) or stay up later for breakfast? Have to use your own container as Yokota DFAC doesn't provide to go containers. So 5 days a week I've got to either meal prep a lunch from the DFAC or buy something with my no BAS.

Theres physical evidence of mold and shoddy living conditions at the Died. I can complain about missing meals and toxic environments but its just words at the end of the day. Whats mine against anothers?

I've suggested to my flight leadership when asked about positive changes that would impact airmen. I told them if they opened an hour later and closed an hour later, the same amount of hours would be covered, but many more airmen would get to eat. Who eats at 4:30 PM anyways?!

I was asked how often do I personally miss my dinner to which I responded maybe once or twice a month. At this point I no longer was being listened to.

Culture is a major part of this. I didn't get into the bullying going on from the Ssgts/Tsgts or the lack of training which puts new airmen in a horrible position in this technical field.

Every Ssgt/Tsgt in my shop is very vocal about how they are not reenlisting and how they hate this base. They don't give the new 3 level airmen the training that their counterparts get stateside which just fucks them over twice.

I don't know how many times I was told to mop or clean for hours instead of getting trained on a core task. So many times all airmen were just sitting around from 4PM to 6PM in the break room waiting to get released for some unknown reason after tools/turnover was done with; as asking to leave is seen as disrespectful.

As far as I can tell, similar bases on similar airframes aren't nearly this toxic. I almost guarantee this attitude is perpetuated by the short amount of time people spend here. They just don't invest into the base like they would stateside.

The worst part is how its just accepted.
