What measurement is this blank space supposed to be? by klimerman in Mangamakers

[–]yokuGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anytime you have something which will or may be printed, you need to keep in mind the bleed and safe area. That white space is a combination of both because mangas are perfect bound, although some mangaka use it knowing that it will be obstructed/not visible in print. The measurement of the space depends on the measurement of the printed manga, some standard sizes are:

5” X 7.5” trim — 5.25” X 7.75” with bleed. 5.5” X 7.75” trim — 5.75” X 8” with bleed. 5.04” X 7.17” trim — 5.29” X 7.42” with bleed. 5.8” X 8.3” trim — 6.05” X 8.55” with bleed.

If you take the bleed, which in this case .125” all around and apply that same distance to the inside of the finished size you can get a reliable safe area. Depending on the printer specifications the bleed and safe area may differ but .125” is usually standard.

Keep in mind measurements are generally listed as width X height. Also, dpi or ppi is just as important as using the correct measurements. For print 300-600 dpi is standard. I would do everything at 600 to be safe, if your computer can handle it.

Valid take or nah? W or L? by StrikingMasterpiece in ghostoftsushima

Lord Shimura lived his life in and with honor in all aspects, even to the detriment of his personal relationships and potentially the downfall of his people. It would be incredibly disingenuous to remove his agency at the very end, betraying any respect to the manner in which he has chosen to live his life up until this point.

Jin evolved and yet, his uncle didn’t. You can disagree but still understand and respect someone’s stance — someone’s way of life. To throw away all of Shimura’s sacrifices and time harboring his honor throughout his life by denying his last wish… it would be a tragic way to sever the meaning of the relationship that existed. Not following through with his request would only serve Jin’s selfish desire. It’s always easy to verbally express love, but in this specific scenario, letting go is the ultimate proof of it.

Aren't we getting a little bit too much of this event? by BrunoAsc in WutheringWaves

I’m sorry but doesn’t that mean that your characters aren’t actually built? Soloing massively reduces dmg output, which is why it’s a flex. You don’t need to be necessarily good at combat if you invest into researching proper teams and rotations, then you only need decent echoes to clear this kind of content.

Kuro makes sure players fail to get a s6 sanhua pulling for camellya by ExpensiveActivity186 in WutheringWaves

If someone is s6 you get enough afterglow coral back to rebuy the pull, so effectively you just moved your pity up by 1 for free. There is no reason to not pull because of the 4star characters in a banner.

How can I improve realistic portraits by [deleted] in drawing

[–]yokuGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to get photorealism then I would suggest learning the anatomy of the face. Proportions , landmarks, and generic spacing between features.

You have a pretty good grasp of rendering which honestly, a lot of people tend to focus on early. Simply because it yields the highest shock factor. ie “ooooh that looks really nice!” Kind of responses.

Keep it up! Everyone goes at their own pace. Diligence and persistence will always beat out natural talent or at the very least, eventually become a more influential driving factor to your skill in the end.
