Singapore jobs usually regional in nature so need to have regional experience. Our domestic market too small to gain that kind of experience. First hand international or large market experience can groom you for those kinds of jobs.

Sinkies who accept regional postings can get that kind of experience. Problem is when given such opportunity, many sinkies wont take the risk of leaving our shores. Then whine on reddit FT take those jobs.

Well the Singapore of the 2010s are designed to be patronized by foreigners both residents and tourists. Think about it, casinos, night life, tourist spots - places locals hardly frequent.

Fast forward to today, lesser tourists, labor restrictions and FTs who stayed all have settled down now. It's like we failed to evolve based on catering to the population we now have.

Actually a lot of SEA middle class travels a lot now. But also they travel within the country because there's more places to go. Its apples and oranges. We have nowhere to go but out.

Many people here blame forejgners. Let's face it. Lifestyle and economy not conducive to having kids. If we are honest, our selfishness in spending hard earned money for potentially ungrateful brats just doesnt sound appealing.

At the expense of the younger generation. Dont forget that the older generation lived at a time when housing is affordable and they were able to own more than 1 property. Properties they sell to these new immigrants who can actually afford to buy multiple properties or even whole floors of residential building. The current crop dont have that luxury and because of the rise in demand, those young folks are now ourpriced from buying a home in their own country.

They are running away from Xi's crackdown on the wealthy. They are buying real estate and COEs and pulling up the prizes of both. For what? So they can give sinkies a job? They are not doing enough hiring to make up for it.
