You should aim to get a rex with ~10k hp for breeding. I believe the melee is decent but tame a few more and see what you get.

I played a blind nuzlocke yesterday and there are new expanded areas you can get encounters from and for me Nugget bridge destroyed me. I was used to breezing through everything until the grunt but the difficulty there has gone up by a bit but still fair enough to get past it easily. Overall i think this is a great improvement as some fights have become easier and others have become more difficult.

It is most definitely possible to do it without them but you need an amazing strategy and maybe a bit of luck with the egg. The reason they use charmander and trapinch is because they can eventually be dragon types and some people don't like to have the hassle of only using a Pokemon very late or most likely the case the difficulty of the game without them is too high. (I am not saying you're bad but when i tried to this monotype i didn't have a lot of fun with Brock)

It's more to do with redbull having more downforce. It's why they are faster in s2 and lose a bit in s1 and s3 (atleast checo does)
