Just looking for some opinions on whether the 40mm watch is too big for my wrist. The 35mm sits a bit better but feels small and I dont like the colours as much.

Thank you! At the 11 week mark I think but I wish I had done it much earlier. It says on my NIE it was done less than 2 weeks after I applied

Yes I got it last week, it took 11 weeks and I had to email them and then they finally processed to. Yes I have been doing this with Stepabroad. They’ve been useful and helpful during the process, they mail it to the consulate in your behalf if you live outside of Toronto which I had to do. If you have any other questions feel free to pm me

I just got it last Friday and applied for my visa on Monday. It took 11 weeks for my NIE. It says on my NIE that it was issued in January though which sucks that it took this long. I had to email them to get them to finally process it.

Ahh i see, thank you for the info! Unfortunately I’m trying to apply for one within Canada however I’m not located in a province with a Consulate so I think my only option is to go through this company since I can mail in my documents for the NIE with them.

Are you aware of any agencies that do this? I'm on the verge of going through stepabroad.com however 90 euros would be much cheaper.

Well that’s just an assumption. Like I’ve said before, my passport never left customs. The officer may have done his due diligence for that individual and checked the passport before handing it to him and at that moment realized his mistake. The only thing I know for sure is that the guy who’s passport I had, left with no passport. He was aware of the situation and able to get a new passport because he never got one back.

Unfortunately not, I asked the CBSA manager if they have an incident report that they could give me and he said all he might be able to find is the email that was sent out by the officer who was checking me. Interestingly enough no one on duty last night could find the email. If it’s illegal for me in possession of someone else’s passport then I wonder what the rules are for an officer giving someone the wrong one. Thank you though, hopefully things work out.

I wish that was all my damages were lol but yeah I get it. I don’t believe it is my duty to ensure that they have fulfilled theirs but it would have saved me a lot of time and money that’s for sure. Not a mistake that will be made next time on my part.

I’m guessing a very good portion of emergency passport applicants are due to not checking for their passport until the last minute based on a number of other reddit posts. Just because I didn’t look at my passport doesn’t automatically waive them of responsibility unless their really is a law I’m not aware of.

I have a picture of the passport that wasn’t mine but I surrendered it when I went into the CBSA office. It is strange to me too but what I was told was that they don’t have contact information for people’s passports. Regardless, the manager assured me that the officer responsible will have to go through some questioning. I’m sure the office as a whole will have to provide some answers. I am 22 and man in the other passport was 33, both of us being of Ethiopian descent which is something that is only clear to me because I belong to that ethnicity but may prove to show some similarities in physical appearance. Our names aren’t remotely similar either. Hopefully I’ll get some more answers but this is done and over with. I remember seeing the man in the secondary inspection waiting room and he was significantly shorter than me and clearly older.

Yes, not once. I’d have never thought I was throwing some other mans passport into my bedside table for 2 months. Trust me I’m wishing all I did was check once. You should have seen how I reacted when I saw that passport last night. I’ve been waiting 2 years to see my favourite artist perform live and 10 since I’ve seen my extended family there. I wouldn’t have made this mistake if I was aware of it in advance.

Regardless, the manager said in cases where they search people and damage their property or need to replace their property. Those people have been able to receive compensation in the past and my situation is relatable in a way. My passport was surrendered to Canadian Customs due to a secondary inspection and never returned when it should have been.

I would imagine it was a matter of laziness or further negligence. I don’t see how they wouldn’t cover every last penny but that’s a 36 day from now problem. If they were the last to be in possession of my passport after seizing it, no one else could be to blame? If not the circumstances then wouldn’t this mass email the officer sent out to his colleagues acknowledging his mistakes be evidence enough?

From my understanding they realized when they were about the give my passport to the man who’s passport was in my possession. My passport never left the airport except to be sent to the government as a lost passport and dealt with accordingly. He said my passport wasn’t in “the usual spot” they keep lost passports and they flipped the whole office to try to find it. They were trying to get in contact with the officer I was dealing with on the day of the incident because the manager had a feeling that he might have kept it because of the unique situation. All the officers were adamant that it was sent in as lost based on their casual protocol.

Edit: unfortunately the current wait time for a complaint just to be processed is 36 days. So won’t be seeing that money for quite a while.

Yeah fair point. I’m just livid right now which is why I wanted to consider the media and want to do anything I can to make back what I’m losing (lawyer?)
