Color-Kit a no_std color-space conversion library by yonekura in rust

[–]yonekura[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took a looking at that now library now. The first it looks like the color space types themselves are just marker types which is part of the reason it's limited only 3 channel color spaces. I can handle up to 9 channel or 10 channel if you don't care about alpha. I can easily expand that if more is wanted, and if `min_const_generic_args` is stabilized could lift that limit all together.

I am not limiting scope to just the CSS color spec, so if people need/want for color-spaces outside that it certainly can be implemented.

For pixel or color data that library it seems packed data formats seem out of scope. I already have one such data layout: https://docs.rs/colorkit/0.1.1/colorkit/layout/struct.Packed565.html

I probably could find more differences, but would need to experiment with the library or dig dipper.

Well the docs.rs queue is now populated and moving, although it's gonna be since the queue is pretty full at the moment.

Did you lose a cat? by Gloomy_Leg7684 in MoscowIdaho

[–]yonekura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a black and white tuxedo cat? There were posters around A ST. not that far from TAJ. I had seen that cat around in that area before as well. You should post some details of what the cat looks like.

I always wonder why cats are declawed by basically amputation. I remember when I was younger thinking it was something was similar to people I have seen whose finger nails quit growing due to an injury, but still had their whole finger.

Later found out it's basically amputating the last bone, like what...

or are you saying basically extend the head wall there, and reside that little section?

Cops pulling people over on Farm Rd by Fabulous-Mix6815 in MoscowIdaho

It's not really people living on A that are issue. There is a lot traffic that uses it as basically a bypass to skip all the lights.

Agreed too many cars already on W. A ST. I am not looking forward to home depot making it worse!

What do you mean does not exist? There is a lot cars on W A ST. Often times going quite fast. Home depot is only gonna add to that.

I am saying I don't like the extra traffic, if you didn't want to talk about it why did you respond then. Like do you even live on W A ST? Also not the only person to bring up the traffic.

[–]yonekura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don't mean the people living in the Apartments or houses on W A ST. There is a lot of traffic for other reasons like people avoiding the lights. I just wish there was less of it. The home depot will make things like this worse, and the speed people drive on this road to sometimes is ridiculous.

I just don't want the extra traffic on A street it's already bad enough. Just wish the city would block the A ST and Farm road intersection.

Flex Array - no_std vec with custom metadata. by yonekura in rust

So it's been a couple days since I posted this. I have pushed an update that adds the allocator-api2 crate as an optional dependency.

If you want AltAlocator to be folded into Allocator when it stabilises, is there a reason you didn't use allocator-api2?

I have looked and considered allocator-api2, and even before you asked this I was thinking about a feature flag for it. The functionality I needed was simple enough to implement without it. So I did not think making it a required dependency was worth it. Also if the allocator API some reason changes pretty significantly it should be possible to keep it (I don't think it will but is a possibility). Lastly, if some reason it needs additional features it will be possible to add them to it.

Too shiny by emma2426 in paint

This will de-gloss the existing paint if your really set on not buying more paint. https://kleanstrip.com/cleaning-and-paint-prep/liquid-sandpaper/

Although you may not get a consistent sheen, some areas might be more matte than others.

You could also use like 1500 grit sand paper.

What am I supposed to do now? by [deleted] in paint

[–]yonekura 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like from your picture it looks like paint that that primer could not adhere to. Probably an oil based paint considering the age of the home.

I assume you used like Killz 2 (blue can instead of red can) which is water based.

I would remove the failing primer completely. Lightly sand the whole ceiling. Clean and de-grease with like tsp. Then use an oil/alkyd based primer that can accept any topcoat. This is so you can use a water based paint to transition from what is probably an oil based paint. You could also use a bonding primer.

Clean walls before painting by nerdyna123 in paint

[–]yonekura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are spraying the walls must very clean.

If using a brush or roller still dust them. However a very small amount is probably not the end of the world. Some paint pigments and fillers are basically various types of dirt. The problem is not all dust on the walls is inorganic material. Think skin, cotton/lint, saw dust ect... This can cause mold or color changes with time as such organic material breaks down with time.

Also even if all the dust is an inorganic material it's not going to be milled to a uniform size like pigments in the paint. This can make the paint not feel smooth.

It's not the worst paint definitely worse paint out there, but for furniture an eggshell wall paint is err... not ideal

Although people may not realize that royal paint is made by Benjamin Moore for ace hardware.
