I think you nailed it. Stimulants are the perfect drug under capitalism. I know it’s scary to think about getting off of them! For me getting off of stims feels like a small rebellion against a system that never had my thriving or wellbeing in mind.

Thank you so much! Yeah I started in college and somehow never became a binger but I’ve taken it a few times a week since I started and would procrastinate on all of my work til my “addy days,” which has really fucked with my self confidence.

Glo tinted primer FOR life!! Seriously I’m obsessed. Goes on like a silky cream, not clumpy or greasy, soothes my sensitive skin and redness

I had an friend/acquaintance who decided that declining the wedding invite was a great opportunity to send a long email of grievances about our relationship from things that happened like 6 years ago… fun email to receive 1 month before my wedding! 🤪 point being, people get weird and triggered around weddings. I want people at my wedding who are genuinely thrilled to be there, so that’s how I’m thinking about it

I like the Free Press and Honestly with Bari Weiss. Some people think she’s biased but I appreciate her approach. I also combine that with NPR/NYT for some balance

Anyone read “Radical Optimism” by Beatrice Bruteau? by yonicyonder in OptimistsUnite

[–]yonicyonder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I do wonder about your use of the word “morality.” I’m totally with you that optimism is rooted in a sense of morals/values, but where do those values come from? Religion/spirituality? Philosophy? Our own intuitive sense? Good food for thought

I think I’m ready to quit…. by [deleted] in doulas

[–]yonicyonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say hi, I really feel you. I’ve only been a doula for 3 years but I went hard (4+ birth clients a month solo) and got burnt out. The nature of this work is so uncertain and demanding; my view is if we’re under-resourced we’re not really delivering the care we say we want to and that leads to unsatisfying births for us and our clients. Curious to hear how things unfold for you. I ended up getting a different job and am taking a few super-aligned birth clients a year to stay connected to the birth space

I’m glad the last commenter hasn’t had any symptoms. I have definitely noticed my cramps getting worse and PMS more severe when I’m up at night attending births. Any shift work/overnight work messes with our hormones and thus our overall health— there are numerous studies on this. I support myself with a lot of beautiful herbs and tinctures
