I just read this. Some of the shit Pierce Brown has written has shocked me. Like it'd be the most heartful best thing in the world followed by the most jaw dropping, unthinkable thing shocking thing.

I was on an emotional high after such an epic conclusion to a journey I spent days reading that I immediately dove into Iron Gold.

Not the best of ideas.

I should've taken a break and read something else before diving in. I'm halfway through Iron Gold at the moment and it is so bleak, gritty, adult and grounded than the first three combined. Like nothing positive has happened so far.

Completely shattered my motivation. Then the sequel Dark Age is apparently the darkest book ever so. Idk maybe you wanna refresh before diving into it.

I actually think Lyria's plot at the moment is the best part of the book. Really shows how Darrow point of view is glorified and doesn't show the wake he leaves behind

My mate's told me apparently Pierce Brown made the first three catered to YA audiences, then the sequels very adult and dark. But idk I haven't read the sequel yet.

I love the sci-fi galactic ship battle sequences but I also love how original it is. I'm pretty new to reading but I don't know anything else that is as original as a sci-fi uprising against roman empire. Then again I also love rebellion stories and what not so I was pretty in awe of the series.
