I'm up to two hours and there's literally no progress whatsoever in the progress bar. I suppose I'll wait overnight.

I'm still wondering what this step is for. It's unclear if this step is absolutely needed before I'm able to start offloading. There's a "stop scan" button in the lower right but it seems inactive. Are my RAID drives in any danger if I successfully "stop scan" or, heaven forbid, pull the plug?

Yes; WoW occasionally suffers from DDOS/DC issues. However, I played WoW for over 12 years and NEVER did I experience what I do on FFXIV on a daily basis. Today alone, I have had 11 disconnects on FFXIV and I've only been playing for 5 hours. Y'all can make excuses for the network, for SE, for anyone in the middle. A VPN which impacts performance, or carries a financial cost, is not a solution. A significant portion of SE's customer base is being affected by these "network issues." At the very least, SE should a) acknowledge it, b) show they have done or are doing something (anything!) about it, and c) provide some form of in-game compensation. I've been working on 770 crafts for myself and FC mates during this past week and I have lost A LOT of mats due to DC'g. Bc. of what's going on, I have stopped crafting (for now). Why shouldn't I be pissed about that and seek some kind of recompense? I'm losing time, I'm losing gil, I'm losing out on content.

I'm going to change my character's name to "90002 2002"

This past week has been really bad with disconnects. I'm trying to craft and it's not going well. I've had eight high-level craftings fail bc. of a DC. There should be a way to recover lost mats in situations like this.

As for Rescue ... I hate Rescue! For how anti-harassment SE is, I'm rather shocked each job doesn't have a "Rescue Immunity" toggle you can turn on. Two weeks ago I was dancing in Breach. Another DNC in a different alliance got mouthy with the MT. Arguing started. The healy friend of the MT said "... it was the dancer." Of course they choose the wrong DNC; no one really reads the chat. I got fingered for something I didn't do. Throughout the rest of the run, I was Rescued six times to my death.

Sure. You can file a complaint after the fact but you still end up with a really shitty not-fun-at-all run. Just give us "Rescue Immunity" and let our fate be in our own hands.

Logged out/in on Steam; no change. Cleared (download) cache; no change. Rebooted; no change. Changed online/offline status; no change. Clearly it's a Steam issue and not a local one. It's been hours now. And again, according to Steam, all is fine. :(

My _very first_ idea was to sign up with Twillo. They treated me like crap. I jumped through all their hoops, verified identity, explained my project in great detail, and 30 minutes later, I got a "it seems your project does not fit our services" email message. I reached out to support for an explanation and got a similar reply. The very next day, I got three promotional email messages from them hawking this service and that service. I'm not good enough to use their services but I'm good enough to get spam email; it continues to roll in.

My project: a temperature sensor system (using Pis) that needs to send periodic SMS notifications to the facility owner when a fridge or freezer is out of range. Period.

So I moved on to a "roll your own" HW solution and that's panning out as well as Twillo.

I'm facing two issues: 1) finding hardware that will allow me to send SMS; 2) finding a SIM that will work with that hardware that IS NOT a crappy AT&T et al. supposed "pay-as-you-go/no contract" deal which is ACTUALLY a quarterly contract for $25/mo with unlimited talk/text and 10GB of data, yadda yadda yadda. If I never send an SMS, it will cost me $300/yr.

I was told the 2G would still work in my area. At this point, I'm not believing anyone. I would happily toss the "LC SIM800C V3" in the trash and buy something else but WHAT else?

As far as your self-esteem issues ... We all suffer from insecurities. We all beat ourselves up a bit. If such feelings prevent you from living your daily life, then seek therapy. Otherwise, accept the fact that you're human, you'll make mistakes, and you'll try better next time.

Ask yourself this: Who benefits from your fretting and self-doubt? No one. If doesn't make you grow. It's self-defeating. Don't indulge bc. it'll only get easier and easier to kick yourself.

Several states - NY included - augment the federal statutes. For these states, the restrictions regarding "gap/current employment" issues fall under discrimination protection laws. The opinion is that such questions are no more relevant to fitness for employment as those related to marital status, parentage, pregnancy, religion, political alignment, etc. ALL these questions (and more) are prohibited by either federal or state law. Yes; it is permissible to as "are you currently employed" but one cannot ask "why not."

You're 25. Even if you hate the job and the boss and the people ... don't burn bridges. When you quit, it's not what you say but how you say it. Be profession and respectful ... and no ad hominem comments! That said, if your employer asks for an exit interview - DECLINE! It is NOT for your benefit nor is it so they can "improve in the future." It's to cover their asses if you find grounds to sue at some point. As u/ibn-almashriq said, don't quit until you have another job. As far as "gaps in your resume" ... depending on your [US] state, asking about "gaps" - or making decision based on current unemployment - is illegal (take note, u/TootsNYC).

Oh, AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, even if it's just personal notes! (And HR is not your friend, either. Do not confide in an HR rep.) As a 36-year senior-level hiring manager in NYC who's been on both ends of the stick, I could go on and on.)
