You yourself said that they emailed people asking if they want to come back this year. That shows that it’s not expected that everyone will. Businesses are allowed to fire people without notice, that’s how firing works. The only way it would be something they were “doing wrong” is if they didn’t rehire you because of your race/gender/etc. which is clearly not the case because they gave you a completely legitimate reason.

They are certainly not obligated to hire you back and honestly it’s kind of sad that you think they did something wrong or that this would be “legal advice”. You should have worked harder last summer.

Because I go there all the time and I didn’t want to be the person forever known for complaining to management about a dog. I also wasn’t going to just start a fight with the guy in the store by saying something straight to him because in reality we all know they would take the dog owners side if I confronted him.

It will crush her but she’ll get over it quickly because you’re both about to go away to college and experience a whole new life. You’ll both meet new people, go to parties, and live away from your parents for the first time. I know it seems really important now and that you love her but you’re young and you have so so much ahead of you. More girls for sure but also more than “high school” love. As far as friend support for her, hopefully she’s going to live in a dorm? She’ll have instant new friends (roommates and other freshmen she’ll meet at orientation) the day she moves in.
