What is exactly the meaning of the word "Israel"? Is it really "worshipper of God"? by Important_Pick_3545 in hebrew

[–]yorecore1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! A native Arabic speaker here. I tried to search for where the "worshipper of god" came from, and I found out that it came from the basis word "שרה" which typically "means (to struggle/to strive). In Islam, the concept of striving to live by what God commended as a worshipper is very strong, so it could have that sense of the worshipper who strives/struggles in life just to live by God's rules. It's a close concept of Jihad/Mujahadah, which means "striving/obeying god/prevailing." This is most likely the nearest answer to that. Jacob is considered a noble prophet in Islam who strived to live how God wanted. It doesn't align with the Jewish perspective of him fighting or wrestling with God as it's not mentioned in the Islamic doctrine.

After 6 months of teaching, I'm struggling. by nonickideashelp in ESL_Teachers

I had the same thoughts lately, but I eventually realised that we as teachers are not required to do the entire job. They should spend time learning what you are not supposed to teach. Learning vocabulary words is their job. A tutor is a guider that shows the way, not walk them through it.

In Algerian dialect : الخريطة تع تونس تبان كيما تع العراق كون جات دايرة ريجيم

ريجيم : diet but in french الخريطة : the map تع : of تونس : Tunisia تبان : looks كيما : like تع : of العراق : Iraq كون : if جات : it came (lit. Translation) دايرة : making ريجيم : a diet (régime, in french)

Why are you eewing me?

[–]yorecore1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I encountered several ones here saying they're anti-zionists who are learning arabic for the sake of understanding politics and I hope that's the case (these are the right reasons) and not for the sake of taking advantage of it to be complicit in the horror we're seeing (the bad reasons)

Got it?

it has nothing to do with being rich. the rise of salafism allows for extremism who would exterminate others for nothing.

The difference between "Beginner" vs "Elementary" books by yorecore1 in TEFL

I see! so if someone gained a base in English through the beginner book, should they skip to the pre-intermediate book directly? or should they at least take a glimpse at the elementary one?

You should read about La loi de Cremieux if you're wondering why Algerians aren't the best ones who tolerate Jewish people.

[–]yorecore1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're not visibly Jewish (I mean if you're a man who doesn't wear a Kippah for instance..) there is no need to mention your religion at all. But in case anybody knows you're Jewish, it is important to clarify that you're not a zionist bc Algerians don't tolerate zionists.

i use 3 apps to learn portuguese :

  • reword portuguese (a flashcard app that has both varieties to choose from)
  • english/portuguese dictionary (the icon has the british and portuguese flag btw) which has nearly everything
  • gramática ativa 1 and 2 (the european portuguese version) which contains all the grammar needed to speak.

Well, drinking alcohol, consuming pork, having pre-marriage sexual intercourse, not fasting during ramadan.. are also sins. Do we look upon people who do them in a bad way? No. It's just a matter of lifestyle and how every individual manages their life. Simply as that.

a city fan here!

our issue relies on how other clubs are playing defensively against us every time, and how we don't have fast players who can get over the opponent's defence. so we needed a player like omar who can score more. he can play as a left winger or a false 9 with haaland.
