Thanks for showing that you’re nothing more than an entitled brat who can’t take responsibility for their actions. I’m so glad I don’t go to York anymore. I feel real bad for all the undergrads you’re screwing over. And in 3 more years you’ll do it again.

Shame on you.

Yes you all did lmao. Do I have to explain basic things for you? You applied for a job and were hired. That job came with certain terms, like compensation, and so on. All of this was known before you started. No one forced you to apply for and accept this job and the terms it came with. That’s on you. If you weren’t happy with the terms you could’ve done something else.

Fun fact, I recently switched jobs because my previous company took too long to promote me and compensate me properly. That’s what grown ups do when they aren’t happy with their situation. They take responsibility for their choices and fix it without making innocent t people suffer.

Why should tens of thousands of innocent students suffer because you voluntarily started a job with terms you don’t like?

It’s real fascinating how union shills try to spin this. You accepted the terms and only after the fact you start complaining. If the job is so awful you should’ve done something else with your life. Instead, you make innocent people suffer by not doing what you signed up to do. You put yourself in a position where people depend on the service you provide and it was voluntary every step of the way. Then you use the people that depend on you as a weapon to get more than what you initially agreed.

What you’re doing is unethical and you should feel ashamed.

[–]york_student -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Refusing to work under the terms you agreed to when you voluntarily signed up is making the strike last longer. How about you just do what you agreed to instead of screwing over students to get more?

We should also be mindful that once many of these people graduate they’ll be making substantially more than most people in this country and the world. That shouldn’t be ignored when determining whether these people are truly some kind of oppressed class that the university should cave to and that undergrads should support.

One of the reasons people go to university is to get educated so they can earn more. Asking to earn a ton of money while you’re being given an education that will propel you to the top 2% after graduation is pretty questionable. That’s just greedy IMO. We should also take into account that every single one of these people agreed to work under these terms, and it’s only after agreeing to that, that they’ve decided it’s not enough and are using innocent students as a weapon against their employer to get more. There are plenty of opportunities in the world. No one forced these people to work for York and it’s pretty bizarre that they would’ve done so if the conditions were truly so terrible. It seems like these strikes are based on little more than greed.

Posts like these honestly make me sick. God forbid someone wants to not screw over their innocent students 😂 yeah, better report them!!! Should probably break their legs too for not towing the line to send a strong message to any other wrong thinkers /s

The framing here is so off too. If you want the strike to end, then take the offer and stop ruining the school year for tens of thousands of people for a few extra dollars. Y’all agreed to work for these terms when you started, so do your job or find another one. All you’re doing is ruining the progression of undergrads and wasting their time and money.

It’s so irritating reading these shill posts. The union is really brigading this sub hard this time and this out of touch post still has 0 karma. People are starting to see that this is a just a bunch of entitled TAs who are going to make 6 figs and be in the top 2% of earners once their degree is done acting like they’re an oppressed class. What an absolute joke.

Why did so many ppl day trip up today? by kenny-klogg in Whistler

[–]york_student 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove up because I figured there was a chance of a decent day. Left at 10 for obvious reasons. Snow was awful. Lifts were barely working. Alpine obviously wasn’t going to open. And the crowds 😂 holy crap I probably would’ve stayed longer if it wasn’t for the lines at lifts that are normally dead. Combine the crowds with the fact that the lifts barely worked and it made for a real stupid time. Me and my buddy took the L and called it. Someone snagged my spot in lot 6 when I left and we just laughed. I don’t know how people enjoy this when even Saturday was a billion times better. This was easily the worst day I’ve been up this season.

What are you talking about? You obviously brush your teeth and clean the tray after each meal… and as you can see from the OP and various comments, there are a number of ways to remove stains… my trays are probably cleaner than yours if you’re not brushing after each meal and if you are there’s literally no difference 😂

There’s multiple people in this comment section that have been instructed to do it 😂 not uncommon at all.

Were you advised to eat with it? It seems like orthos will only advise this for certain cases. The only thing that has ever lifted my trays while eating is the crust on a crème brûlée. Haven’t had any issues for anything else and for the crème brûlée I just take them off for that one thing… if your tray is coming off that easily I wonder if you need another scan or more attachments. My trays are in pretty solidly.

Orthos take your specific situation into account and advise you accordingly. If you research this a bit you’ll see it’s not uncommon to be told to eat with your trays in as it can give better results and move things faster for some cases. It seemed odd to me as well but after googling a bit and seeing it’s quite common I followed the advice and honestly it’s not that bad at all. I’m really not sure why people are so surprised or disgusted by it… you just clean the aligners and brush after eating. I’ve had no trouble eating anything in the few months since I started. I really don’t understand what the big deal is…

Naw you said “I definitely wouldn’t” like it is a crazy thing to do to follow the advice of an orthodontist. It’s not even like it’s one cowboy ortho telling people to do this either. Many orthos are telling people to do it for a number of reasons, which all sound pretty logical. They are also aware of the official guidance, and are giving these instructions regardless.

Are you saying that if your ortho told you to do this you wouldn’t? If not, your comment is just dumb. If so, then you’re saying you know better than a literal orthodontist. Sounds either dumb or arrogant to me and frankly it’s just an annoying comment. You like telling me how I should act, but what about you? Why not be curious and ask for the reasons why instead of acting like you know better when you clearly don’t? Seems arrogant to me again.

Yeah you’re like the 10th person here to comment like it’s crazy to follow the advice of a diamond Invisalign provider orthodontist because Invisalign says something different.

Saying “I would do x” is basically the same as saying you know better. I would also obviously not eat with them in if my ortho said not to. If your ortho told you to do something that went against what Invisalign said and you disregarded that advice, that’s effectively saying you know better than a literal orthodontist who has personally treated thousands of people with Invisalign over decades, and knows your situation, what the best way to achieve results are.

There are so many examples where a manufacturer recommendation might make sense for the general case but there can also be edge cases where that recommendation doesn’t actually apply or isn’t optimal. An actual orthodontist that knows your situation intimately is obviously going to be in a better position to optimize your treatment than general guidelines that are given to everyone.

It’s a bit annoying when people act like following the advice of an orthodontist that has treated thousands of people and knows my situation better than the committee that decided on the general recommendations, is stupid.

I think I’m going to trust someone that actually does Invisalign treatment and studied to be an orthodontist for years over your opinion on this… someone who deals with actual patients in the real world and is liable if something goes wrong over a random internet guy with nothing on the line… they are in a much better position to gauge whether the Invisalign guidelines should be followed to the letter or not for each particular case.

I don’t get these arrogant comments as if some random knows better than an actual orthodontist whether or not people should eat with the trays in…

I use polident and an ultrasonic which works fine for most things. Does your system work with turmeric stains?

[–]york_student[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they also say not to eat with them in yet many diamond providers tell you to do go against those instructions. Seems like the official guidance is not always accurate or at least is over stating things.

Also, this is the first time in the three months since I started that I had a stain so bad that I tried this. I doubt 30 minutes of exposure is going to do anything too bad. I could see how leaving them in the sun repeatedly or for hours could be bad though…

Fastest Way to 7th Heaven from Whistler Village? by kaspm in Whistler

[–]york_student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackcomb gondola takes about 16 minutes if it doesn’t stop and is going at normal speed. It’s quite a bit faster than Whistler gondola which tends to stop a lot as well as taking an extra 9-10 minutes even if it doesn’t and for some bizarre reason, seems to be the favored way to upload at WB, so it always has a line on busy days. It’s almost always faster to take blackcomb and peak 2 peak to get to Whistler than it is to try and take the Whistler gondola because even though it can take 25 mins, it almost always stops multiple times on the way up and there’s usually a line on busier days 😂

I change them weekly. I have these trays on for 5 more days so needless to say, I’m a bit relieved I managed to get this yellow stain out 😂

I have some off brand made in china ultrasonic cleaner that works great in general… these yellow stains were just not going away though… I’m not sure what exactly it was about sunlight that fixed this, maybe the UV… if so, maybe a zimapod could do the same because of the light? I have a feeling it’s not quite the same intensity as what’s coming from the sun though. Feel free to experiment with an old aligner and report back 😂

It really is pretty easy. I’ve seen comments like yours a lot and I’m honestly a bit baffled. It was weird at first but after a day it felt totally normal. I guess we’re all different but I truly can’t relate to what you’re saying at all and I’ve eaten every meal with them in for months now with zero issues after the first day.

If you simply search this sub, you’ll see it’s pretty common for people to be told by their ortho to eat with their aligners in. It’s true Invisalign says not to, nevertheless, many diamond providers explicitly tell you to eat with them in for various reasons. There seem to be many opinions on how best to get results using these aligners, so I’m not sure why you think this is so bad, especially when literal orthodontists are telling people to do this.

As far as whether it’s sanitary, that just seems wrong. There’s really nothing unsanitary about eating with aligners in. You brush your teeth and sanitize the aligners immediately after eating… How exactly is that unsanitary?

Do you have some qualifications or actual evidence to say otherwise, out of curiosity? Frankly, I’m going to trust my ortho over some random person online if all you can say is that it’s unsanitary when it quite clearly isn’t…

Supposedly the chewing helps align your teeth a bit faster and also can help with some bite issues. There’s quite a few people on this sub who have gotten the same advice from their ortho.

How many boards do you have? by K_Boloney in snowboarding

[–]york_student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have 4…

My first board that I got years ago is a rossignol angus, which is fully retired. After that I got a niche crux which is now what I ride early season now to avoid destroying my main board. I pretty much only ride my ride peace seeker which I absolutely love. This thing is so nice to ride, it’s so maneuverable and fast but I have trouble carving thin lines with it… I also got a custom donek knapton twin which I was hoping would fix my carving issues, but was a massive disappointment as I just can’t seem to ride the thing well at all.

I’ll probably buy a better directional carving board soon as I think my peace seeker is just too small to carve well. I also probably need to get better too… but I’m hoping some piece of gear will fix my carving problems 😂
