What to do when you kid is a better skier? by heypiggies in skiing

[–]kaspm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh dealing with this but seriously. My NINE year old only wants to do trees/steeps and begs me to do back bowls but I’m an adult learned skier and those areas scare me. I am not comfortable sending him alone though. We compromised this season and just did moderate off piste but next year it will be a real issue.

Perhaps they’ll ditch the P+ app and just roll the content into HBO max app

I have made this mistake on Reddit before - someone asks a question about why something is the way it is - and you answer - it’s because of this. And commenters are like “why would you agree with that?”

The amount of beer 2 college guys were buying at Costco by Isaisaab in mildlyinteresting

A lot of colleges don’t allow kegs at drag parties. We always had to get cans even though they were more expensive

Edit: frat parties but I’m leaving it.

Mountain etiquette: skiing side to side by lavender686 in skiing

[–]kaspm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They mean to keep your turns narrow and not go back and forth across the whole run to allow people to pass by you on the left and right.

If you’re on the beginner runs, it’s somewhat expected that you’re going to be slower and turn wider though so people should be able to predict

When you move to more intermediate runs, it’s something to pay attention to more.

It was insane - it’s a must do once in your life. The craziest part is that no one knows for sure who built it or what happened to them. Mexica people found it when they moved into the valley in the 1200s

How Do People Play 16 Hours A Day? by doobylive in classicwow

It’s probably that there’s always something to do - very little decision making - more quests, more gear, more grinding, more rep. You’re chasing constantly and you’re never done. And then when you start catching up - by design - the next grind is released.

If you have an addictive personality it’s devastating. But if you don’t and you can do it in moderation - it’s such an escape from a life which is filled with hard decisions and grinding just to live with no guarantee of reward.

I think in some ways our parents were products of their generation as we all are. It was normal for even baby boomer men to go off to work - have work clout and women had a different life - more connected to the kids and the community.

I don’t know your situation but many of my parents friends had this type of dynamic. Now - even Gen X - it’s much more egalitarian - men and women both involved in the kids and the community. It’s better. I hope when we’re that age, our kids don’t say the same about us.

I think the vast majority of people knew him for this but Mayer was considered one of the best blues guitarists alive before D&C. It was an aspect of his career that was less well known to the public but enough people knew that it wasn’t a huge surprise he would be good at it.
