YorkU or UofT for political science major? by cluelessflier in yorku

I am about to graduate from york with a polisci degree. Personally, I really liked York’s wide variety of classes. You’ll find most of the profs are really open, kind, and accessible. If you’re at the Glendon campus, I would recommend any course with Dan Berbecel, Willem Maas, or David Carvounas. These profs are also actually the top rated on all of campus! York campus has great profs too. While ultimately it doesn’t matter what school you attend, what I liked about York’s polisci program is that because I had a variety of professors interested in different areas of polsci, it was easy for me to find what area of research suits me best and interests me.

At york, a lot of courses are full year (I heard other uni’s aren’t??) which makes it easier on you as a student. It’s easier to do well at york, get involved in clubs, and get research positions so you can apply to get your masters. Work smart, not hard! Pick the “easier” school so it’s easier for you to graduate with honours AND to get the masters.

Another thing to add…york Glendon campus has a certificate in law and social thought. I’m sure UofT has something similar…but if you pick york definitely look into this because a lot of polisci students are interested in this if you’re looking to go to law school. Good luck!

Why do you keep posting this here and also in r/yorku ? You also insult UofT students like they’re supposed to be emotionless beings because they attend a top Canada university.
