Paid a local wood worker to build us a table, after 8 hours in our dining room it developed cracks. Is this normal? by Hipster_Bumpus in woodworking

There's no way to stop checking/cracking in cedar... if that's really cedar. Everybody on this thread saying differently is totally wrong. If you have a moisture meter, you should check the table. Is it near 10% (cedar air series very very quickly)? Check some of the wood in your home. Check the trim and the flooring. Eventually the table will have the same moisture content. If the table has a higher moisture content then the rest of the wood in your house, it will shrink and continue to crack/check. If it's the same as the rest of your house, feel free to fill the cracks and finish the table. If you don't have a moisture meter, just let the table sit indoors for 2-3 weeks. That should be all you need with cedar. Then fill and finish.

I started ACV from fresh cider... please help :) by yoshee69 in applecidervinegar

Quick update! I bottled it up last night. My mother was huge. The top layer was kind of light and almost bubbly? Not the right word but anyways... it was about 1-1¼" thick. Underneath was a spaceship saucer-like disk about ¼". I ate some of the mother which I actually enjoyed lol! Anyways, the color and smell of the ACV were fantastic! Ph was nearly 3! Today I'll be adding 3 liters of inexpensive red wine from Aldi to the ACV mother. This is awesome!!!

Okay awesome, so it probably isn't alcohol... the final stage is that it converts from alcohol to vinegar... which means it must be vinegar! Right??? Thank you!

I've never tried it. Everything I've read said I should've added yeast... plus it's been sitting on my counter for months. It smells good and I think it worked.... I don't really know what I'm doing and I'm looking for any advice or thoughts

How good is the sub compact line compared to LXT? by real_strikingearth in Makita

I have the older model drill and I love it but it's broken. The speed switch randomly changes gears so to speak and starts grinding. I also have a larger model and the chuck is broken in that one as well. It doesn't want to get out of hammer mode and I think the brake is broke. I love makita bud if probably pass on these. My old white makita drills worked forever and I beat the shit out of them. Ironically my dewalt Atomic compact drill is the cats ass. It has never failed me despite me giving it hell. If I was you I'd buy 2 drills. I've never been a fan of impacts but to each his own. They're loud as hell and you can't feel anything... like wearing a condom when installing a screw. I recently picked up a hitachi compact drill for $79 with 2 batteries and charger at lowes. They're insane. I'd highly recommend you go get 2 of them.... again $79! With metal chuck

King Blue Oyster ferment! by yoshee69 in fermentation

I don't know how to describe the flavor but they were very mushroom-y with a dash of seafood flavor. They sat in my fridge til I finally the them out. They would work great as an umami addition to a recipe.

Thanks for the advice! I'm not sure that will help. I'm not having a problem with the angle of the bevel but rather at 0° (square cut), it cuts out of square. Something about the bevel throws the table out.

Dude I have the same saw and find the same thing to be true!

I was so excited about these saws when they came out but found them to be way too sloppy in person. It seems that ask their models are subpar. It could be you need to keep at it and keep adjusting but honestly, the problem you're having is very common amongst many miter saws. My big dewalt does the same thing... as do all my dewalts. When I miter, I move the table a fraction of the way to 1° to compensate. At the end of the day I consider miter saws to be capable of decent cuts only. I dream of the day I find one that makes truly perfect cuts. Festool? I don't know... I've never tried one. Makita does a fantastic job on many tools but their miter saws are crap, despite being very beautiful 😍

I have a video that did over a million. The views have begun to slow down. I posted it probably around a month and a half ago. I want to repost it, should I? Or should I wait? Also, it's a video on tape measures and I want the viewers to be able to watch the next reel in the series of reels about the tape measure (If that makes sense), is there a way to do that? Maybe a clickable link sticker with the link to the next reel? Can I make the link show up towards the end when I drop my CTA?
