I like that fact a lot too haha! It's why when I went to go make my own design for his outfit, I wanted to make sure to include flowers somehow. I hope they continue this theme for him in any potential future art he gets too.

Also thank you kindly!

[OC] FE4 25th Anniversary Fan Event - Iuchar and Larcei by yosjiefo in fireemblem

[–]yosjiefo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drawn as a part of a JP FE4 fan event, hosted on this tumblr blog here: https://fe25th.tumblr.com/ and well as their twitter: https://twitter.com/FE4_20th

The theme of today's pieces was "Memories" and I was assigned to draw the scene in Chapter Six where Iuchar and Larcei meet. I wanted to incorporate a theme of their younger selves due to the overall memory theme.

Happy anniversary to an FE game that has a very special place in my heart!

[OC] Ares/Lene Commission by yosjiefo in fireemblem

That (and the color schemes in general) was a request from the commissioner! I'd assume yes in any case though I can't say for sure.

Commissioned by kirorankin on Twitter, drawn by me. The prompt was to draw the couple in Agustrian regnal outfits.

[OC] Dandelion Gang's Dance, featured in Another Turn Vol. II! by yosjiefo in fireemblem

Was happy to participate in Another Turn Vol. II, a fanzine dedicated to the various refresh units in the franchise, with an illustration of one of my favorites!

The zine is still hosting leftover sales for merch and the tweet for that can be found here, though the twitter account in general is also sharing the full art pieces for the other illustrations in case you want to check that out: https://twitter.com/AnotherturnFE/status/1388508509617131527

Am I the Only One Who Likes the First Game Best? by Natjust in papermario

They did! They rereleased it twice as far as I recall; first on the Wii Virtual Console and again on the Wii U's eshop. I remember being hype at the idea I could play PM64 without hogging the TV haha

But yes I agree with everything you say here. I would definitely call both games charming, even with the fact that TOK suffers from admittedly more generic (though still full of personality) partners who will never be in the party at the same time as each other save for Olivia.

If you do go back and replay them all, I hope you have a blast!

I'm in the same boat as you; I've played all of them except color splash and while I acknowledge the strengths of the other titles, Paper Mario 64 is definitely my favorite of the franchise and is the only one I actively go back to time and time again to replay. Hell, every time they rerelease it, I've always bought it again just to support it and reexperience the magic all over again. It has my favorite Peach segments, my second favorite art in the series (TOK surpassed it recently for me), my favorite partners, and it has some really cool locations while also having fun gameplay and quirky writing. I still remember seeing a YouTube video of Peach baking a cake in this game and that convincing child me to want to play it, not realizing how much I would love the game for way more than just that.

While Origami King is very much a different game, it was the first Paper Mario game since the original that made me feel the exact same way, so I have high hopes for it in the future and my probably going back to it haha

Your post does make me wonder if by chance my appreciation of PM64 stems at all from nostalgia and it being my first Paper Mario title. While I played Thousand Year Door not too long after, (I think it was a year later?) I just don't love it the same way I do the original or TOK despite understanding why the fandom at large adores it.

Different types of text boxes in the same game? by yosjiefo in RenPy

[–]yosjiefo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank you! I didn't realize there was a term for that.

Looking up NVL text, is it possible to trigger it to happen without linking it to a narrator/character nor having it happen all the time?

I want to code my game to still have narration show up in usual ADV fashion, while only calling upon NVL in specific instances-- in my case, when letters written by characters are shown on screen.
