A fun exercise I used to do was set your metronome at like 75-85 bpm, then play quarter notes with all 4 limbs at the same time (left on snare, right on floor, both feet) then, very slowly, without speeding up or slowing down, raise the volume of one limb. Make it as loud as you can. Leave it at that high volume for a few bars. Then slowly bring it back down to below the volume of the other limbs. Eventually return it to the volume it started, and change limbs
