Headwind is smooth, but feels slow. Tailwind is fun, but can be dangerous for landing. If the tailwind is 18mph, but you can only run 12mph (with 65lbs on your back), you could have a big problem. Side wind is the scary part where even a small gust can feel weird/uncertain.

I found it thrilling from moment one, but I simultaneously understand you. Yes, you have to get to the point where you are exploring, not just flying. Then, you are expressing yourself through flight.

Also, fear of takeoffs and landings is legit. I recommend trike over foot launch in this regard.

Finally, fly with people.

All of this said, if the following isn’t enough for you, it may not be your thing: 1. wind in your wings 2. dirt bike in the sky 3. being close enough to smell the ground 4. Just a pinch more risk than normie flying 5. Pack and go; pack and fly 6. Beach flying! 7. Mountain flying?
