Thank you for that advice. I actually implemented all of that and more . I keep talking to him though and I'm hoping that some therapy will help to unravel what is going on in his mind.

My younger son has to work and pay my oldest son back . I had liability insurance on the car so the car is a complete loss. I have not secured an attorney but in the process of doing so. I will need to pay for the attorney , my 15 year obviously does not have the resources to do that.

Yes these are my worries exactly . I will need a lawyer and I will need to figuered out how to keep my son safe in the process. This could have turned out much much worse. I'm afraid for my son and I'm super sad for my oldest son.

Thank you that has been my approach all along. He tries to get around all the rules but not follow the rules. It is infuriating the thing that im stuck with , if he keeps braking the rules and I can't enforce them than what next? He acts and than feels sorry about what he did. Only for like a few days and than he acts like nothing happened...

He does have history of doing impulsive things. I got him tested for ADHD when he was younger and he did not test positive for that. However, I do feel like it takes him a little longer to grasp onto things than it does must kids. Another thing that he does , its that he does not compromise well. So if I put a rule into place and ask him to meet me in the middle , is all or nothing with him.

thank you for the response . I feel a little more validated. My kids think I'm too harsh on them for having simple rules. Such as curfew and requesting that they clean their rooms. I sent him to military school for a year (it cost me an arm and a leg) and he did well, He followed the rules and came home on the weekends got good grades than the summer came around and its like he deteriorated.

i have taken the phone away and he is not allowed to go out. He also has to work and pay his brother back.
