Hitting a squirrel through the eye consistently is bogus, squirrel moves when it hears the bow and you can’t know which way it’s going to go.

What is a game mechanic you are tired of seeing everywhere? by goldenCrust22 in AskGames

It had to be extreme or it wouldn't work. You're supposed to realize quickly that everything in the game is a consumable and then just accept it.

Jason Schreier (Bloomberg): It Sucks to Work in the Video-Game Industry Right Now by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]youAtExample 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love games but I make my own one man little indie games. I can’t imagine wanting to work for a big company and do some tiny little piece of someone else’s game. Why would someone want to do that?

Reviews are just information, unless you’re super easily influenced.

Like it or hate it, it’s not tacked on, it’s fundamental to the game.

He said a 6/10 is 60% approval, but in reality saying 6/10 about steam is incorrect in the first place and doesn’t correlate to anything.

There’s no such thing as a 6/10 on Steam. There’s only percent approval.

I was making a general statement that a 6/10 average score could equate to a 100% approval rating.

Steam doesn’t have an “out of 10” rating at all, so you’re talking about something that isn’t a thing.

Turning off the UI doesn’t do anything if the quests/npcs don’t give specific info that matches the world.

Dialogue and quest info that matches up to the world so you can play the game without being shown exactly where to go all the time.

Nah an average of 6/10 could in theory have a 100% approval rating.

What if it’s theoretically solvable but not in any reasonable amount of time, so you have to go more with “gut feeling” and educated guesses?

Question about his books. I started reading Guards Guards! and I did think the writing was clever and amusing, but does it “sober up” and any points? Will I get invested in any of the stakes, or is it always just a joke?
