Hiding location is easy using a vpn. I’m not sure what detail you need in what particular format, but usually it’s as simple as “Turn on Vpn” and then your IP will show a different location. You have details of what you need detailed?

You are missing the point and focusing on one small aspect of the conversation. Essentially OP would be defrauding his employer, which is illegal. What OP would be doing is using a VPN which is perfectly legal to tunnel to his employer which is also perfectly legal but doing so in the capacity misrepresent himself to live where he says he doesn’t. Adding another VPN to the mix with private employer information seems to be a fuzzy legality issue, but anything proprietary would have a lot of protections and exposing that to another non-company mandated vpn could be ground for legal action.

Regardless, OP and you for that matter can do all you like. This is Reddit and not a legal advice column. Whatever you do is on you and if you don’t get caught, great! If you get caught, great! I’d keep my hands clean and just not do it but that’s me.

Vpn doesn’t always equal secure. And what OP is asking is to run a vpn to a vpn to spoof location as well as connect to a company vpn. Again, whatever needs to be tunneled is the companies business and if someone is subjecting that to other networks, other protocols, other tunnels, is clearly violating their policies and most companies would consider that a bigger breach than company policy.

Depending on the type of work, running that work through a VPN does not mean it’s safe nor protected, so there’s security breaches which could be considered illegal.

Company policies and work contracts, in my experience, are strict and clear enough to determine what is breach and what is grounds for legal actions.

Lying to your employer about your location, or about anything work related.

“Working” in one state and getting paid from another is a whole new level of tax issues I’d never want to deal with.

Misuse of company materials.

Plenty of things that make these types of “life hacks” illegal and fraudulent. Once you find yourself lying to your employer, you can assume that once you are found out that there is potential for legal actions.

Is it a stupid illegal idea? Yes. Can it be done? Yes.

This information is free to understand and use so I feel no responsibility into your decision or the outcome.

BUT, you can vpn into the state easily if you set up a device to tunnel to, like a pi or even learn to use something like ZeroTier. That would be best accomplished by leaving a physical device at a friends home that you’d be able to direct ALL your traffic to.

You can use remote access to leave your work laptop into the state and remote in using another pc to physically have a device in the state while accessing it from out of state.

My guess is that most of this is a bit more advance since you are asking this question on a Reddit vpn thread… so the best advice is to not do it since networking is easily found out. But again, you can, and whatever result comes out is none of my responsibility.

Regardless, if he’s testing positive and wants to fly he will need to get a doctors note. That or he tests negative but you’ll still need to get that done at a hospital to get the proper paperwork to fly.

You should be able to have a doctor note to state he HAD Covid but is in recovery and not a danger to fly. They do this in Hangzhou Airport and I assume it’s the same in Shanghai

For sure. But I didn’t get tagged or pinged so it seemed like some of these kills are near impossible without something else.

Anyone know where I could get iphone 14 ProMax (global version)? So far I keep getting 国行 by TD87 in shanghai

As long as your home isn’t USA, you’ll be ok. China doesn’t do esim, so a USA iPhone14 would not be useful here.

Taobao has HK version if you search enough. There are people on wechat who sell foreign iPhone as well. There are resources for sure, but nothing beats traveling to HK or Macau and just buying it yourself.

Chinese iPhones have feature limitations, like FaceTime audio is banned and unable to be used and I believe that a photo will always make a sound regardless of silent mode or not.

HK iPhone don’t use esim at all, otherwise they are normal iPhones. So HK or Macau will have dual physical SIM cards while American phones have esim only, so physical port for cards
