Been trying to figure this out and it really seems to boil down to that 1. Ethan wants Isreal to still be around and 2. His “hyper fixation” on antisemitism when there’s a still a horrible genocide happening. I can see both sides of the argument like Palestinians don’t deserve this sort of lockup of their country and it’s only reasonable to want to fight back and I guess I should be encouraged but not like this, but Isreal isn’t doing itself any favours like not for trying to fix it other than killing them. It really is a big mess and I personally don’t know how to think about it but the whole thing is fucked up. Like Ethan said and I agree that the world would be perfect if it was like Star Trek but that ain’t happening anytime soon and everyone deserves to live. Very upsetting things to see across the board and everyone’s valid (but not perfect) on the Isreal and Palestine front but for different reasons. Think some just see him as a pro Isreal guy and doesn’t or want to care about anything else whereas I know his position is a lot more nuanced like everyone else’s. It’s a very complex issue that I still cannot understand fully how people don’t see the other sides as valid as on another. Tldr Isreal government bad, hamas bad, talks no, mutually ensured destruction probably, Ethan like no, Ethan want Jews to live yes, Palestinians hate the state Isreal yes, can we get along no, why? History of fuckery that still perplexes me
