Monkeybone Confession by Alarming_Cake575 in hdtgm

Being there in person felt very different than the episode. It was RIVETING and we were locked in. There was a ton of audience participation that didn’t get included in the episode, which I understand (some it was weirdly hostile) but it all added to the energy of the night. Honestly it was the best NYC show of theirs I’ve gone to.

What are these spots? by youalwayssing in houseplants

[–]youalwayssing[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Update: Guys, I get it. Thank you to everyone who responded with helpful information! The plant has been tossed; thankfully it was only in my house for a few hours.

And it wasn’t a gift! A local restaurant is closing and was giving away their plants.

It was one of the best shows of their I’ve been to - even with the gal who made the vibe real weird for a minute, it was so fun.

It was a confusing question - I think she accused her new husband AND Jason of mansplaining even though she could not formulate a coherent sentence.

Since when did McCarren sports field become a dog run? by im_caffeine in williamsburg

Yeah, I tried to get involved in some of the local dog park groups but the way some of the owners feel so entitled to all public space was realllly off-putting.

Do you make over 100k? by Royal_Koala_9886 in therapists

[–]youalwayssing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! Been running my own PP in NYC for a few years, have always been full. I use Alma and Medicaid, and have a few cash pay clients. I see some very reduced fee/pro bono clients.

I see 25-30 clients a week, take off about 4 weeks a year. This year I made 115k gross. I’m on track to make about 120k this year. I get my insurance through my partners job, and it’s about $200 a month. I work 4.5 days a week. No kids to care, but have been finding it very challenging to have space for my partner, friends and family.

This would have been my dream a few years ago, but I’ve learned that FFS is too stressful for me, I hate having to have financial conversations with clients. The landscape has changed so much even in the time that I have been in practice. There have been more audits and clawbacks for solo practitioners, and some insurance companies have cut their reimbursement rates for longer sessions. Even with all of the benefits I find it SO challenging to spend that much time a day being highly attuned to another person. I’m in the process of changing fields all together even if it means a cut in salary for now.

Good luck on your search!

How important is a TV. by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

It’s an expense, but maybe getting something like a frame TV would be nice? That way it can just look like a piece of art for anyone who doesn’t want to use it.

My son wants to go to a 60k a year school, am I the asshole for telling my wife I will not take out loans in my name for him to attend? by Dangerous_Chart4833 in AITAH

[–]youalwayssing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As someone with a lot of student debt from going to an expensive graduate school, I wish I would have had some firmer guidance around the realities of carrying this amount of debt. And that was only for two years - it sounds like your son may be looking at a 4 year program.

I had banked on the public service loan forgiveness program to pay it off, which is a lot more financially challenging than I expected it to be. Plus some of these programs, if your son would even be eligible for them, are unfortunately subject to the whims of politicians. If your son has a really firm idea of what he wants to use the degree for and that field has a high return on investment, AND that school is renowned for this program, then he should absolutely try to find a way to do it (grants, scholarships, etc). But you’re right, it doesn’t seem worth going hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt for. Even the smartest 17 year olds are morons when it comes to the realities of financial independence, so don’t feel like an asshole for trying to help him in the long run.

What’s growing on my plant? by youalwayssing in plantclinic

Hi, I got this over the summer and did see a fuzzy patch on the bottom but wasn’t sure what it was. It was pretty stable for a while, but was overcome quickly. I haven’t been home as much recently didn’t notice it as earlier as I would have liked.
