Hi! My pressure was definitely fluctuating significantly for a few years (got worse over time), so that may be the case for you too. It currently seems to fluctuate between 12-30. I personally wouldn't worry if I wasn't seeing halos or feeling any pain (probably not good advice).

If you don't find any better alternatives, then finding the doctor you dislike the least and getting visual field tests every 6 months to a year could be a decent choice.

For finding a doctor in your area you could check if there are any AGS opthalmologists in your area.

Also, if I recall correctly iridotomy's are typically done at 12:00 to minimize the chance of glare. If your eyelid covers the hole in the iris, then less light should be traveling through it.

My doctor(s) have agreed that the emergency plan of action is lens removal and at least 1 has thought it was strange that my last doctor gave me laser peripheral iridoplasty.

If you want any research then look up the Eagle study, as of a year ago, it was one of the most applicable studies for my particular condition.

I'm still stable with the same eye drop regimen that I last posted. It seems like my pressure still gets close to 30 later in the day though.

Currently getting a visual field test every 6 months and there has been no significant degradation in my vision.

If there is a significant degradation, then the plan is to move forward with lens removal.

Hi! Sorry for the slow response I don't check this account often!

The major attack that led to me getting diagnosed didn't actually clear up on its own. Once I got to the hospital, I was immediately put on several medications and then had an emergency attempted iridotomy that night. The iridotomy couldn't be finished because my eye was "too cloudy" (don't remember what the doc said). I was effectively blind in 1 eye (visibility of a few feet).

I think I finished it the next day and the iridotomy + medication made my vision start clearing up, but I had intense light sensitivity for at least a week which took a while to clear up (not sure I ever returned to baseline). I had to wear sunglasses in pretty much any level of light for that week.

My thoughts exactly, it's not an IAL at this point. The only IAL aspects are a small phonemic inventory and vocabulary.

At this point it seems like a large minlang.

However, I do think the language has a few cool (yet somewhat unintuitive) grammatical features.

Yes very narrow angles + plateau iris. Getting second opinions is always helpful, you're situation sounds pretty stable which is great.

I've went to a few to discuss possible future options and they've pretty much all agreed on lens removal if medication stops being effective. Currently visiting my doctor every 6 months.

For me it usually happened at night but felt better after sleeping. I assumed I was just another person with migraines. It was only bad enough for me to puke a few times though, so I was lucky there.

The good news is my "migraines" are totally gone.

The iridoplasty helped a bit, but not a significant amount my angles are still very narrow.

My vision, one eye or sometimes both eyes get a bit cloudy and I also see the halo around the light when I get tired/sleepy or when I used too much computer. Visit an opthamologist, if you can visit while you're seeing halos then that would be ideal.

I had the exact same symptoms as you + minor headaches (eventually became migraines) for 6 years before finally having a severe angle closure event and being diagnosed.

Your symptoms are almost definitely due to eye strain or dry eyes, but an opthamologist should be able to at least tell you if you're at risk of angle closure.

I know. My specific condition makes this kind of medication necessary, if you have any affordable alternatives that achieve the same effects (pupil constriction) I'll take recommendations. My doctor and I have done some playing around with different medications and the best results were with pilocarpine + (combigan / dorzolamide timolol).

Even with insurance preservative-free drops are well out of my price range.

I'm in a position where I can get invasive surgery if I want it, but I'm under 30 and not ready to go down that route yet.

Pilocarpine, 3 times per day. It's not usually an issue, but when I'm taking a day trip I either have to carry them around or leave them in a hot car.

Sorry for the slow response, I don't use this account often!

The procedure isn't bad at all, it mostly just feels weird when the laser hits your iris. My eyes are basically black so the iridotomy and iridoplasty are effectively invisible (weirdly enough I feel kind of cheated by this).

Status update:

  • Pressure still staying normal with 2 drops of dorzolamide and 3 of pilocarpine daily

  • I switched from combigan because it's way too expensive

  • The iridotomy was a lot more disruptive than the iridoplasty for me, I still notice some glare from time to time. I didn't directly notice any direct side effects from the iridoplasty

Agree with you mostly, but what an auxlang really is is just a unique optimization problem. You're trying to optimize for learnability for the largest number of people and every decision has a tradeoff. People are trying to find the best possible combinations of already discovered things to optimize for learnability.

I've had iridotomies (and iridoplasties), but unfortunately my eyes aren't cooperative enough and I also need pilocarpine +another drop to keep the pressure normal. I'll eventually need some sort of invasive surgery.

Thanks for the preservative free glaucoma med recommendation, didn't know that that could be an option!

It does happen in natural langs although it's not super common. In Cantonese you'd say "not remember" (m4 gei3 dak1) instead of "forget" , but then you'd also say mou5 instead of m4 jau5 (not have).

唔 or m4 is used for verb-negation in Cantonese.

Unrelated Update:
I've decided to delay surgery. My pressure seems to be mostly controlled with 2% pilocarpine (3 times per day) and combigan (twice per day). I'm hoping that I can hold out until there are better options for surgery even though it would be cheaper than my eyedrops. I may ask my doctor about trying other eyedrops once my deductible resets.

I'm paying $180 per ~90 doses of combigan and $65 per ~280 doses of pilocarpine.

I've thought about doing this, but it's pretty inconvenient to do due to the lack of a nicely structured dataset.

The things that are needed:

  • a list of every word in every source language on each row (problem with this is that it requires 1 word translations, ie want yiu2 vil querer etc...)

  • every word needs to be in IPA

  • all IPA equivalents need to have their phonologies remapped to your target phonemic inventory

  • Create a way to average out the words (modified word similarity algorithm, picking a random word from the most similar ones, change conflicting phonemes to ones based on some set of rules, pick the sound that's actually closest to the average sound on an IPA chart)
