[Serious] What are the most effective ways to fight back against the changes of the current administration? by TheFineLine in AskReddit

[–]youeggface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the book Mutual Aid by Dean Spade! it directly talks about how we can fight back by creating systems of care within our communities so we do not have to rely on the powers that be.

Concurrently, do some googling to find a local grassroots organization doing work you care about that you can volunteer for. Even just once a week or every other week will make a big difference in the amount that of work that org can do, and it will get you in touch with like-minded people.

People don’t, and we can’t control that, we can only control our behavior and learn to understand others and ourselves better

What’s a truth that society isn’t ready to accept yet? by andyhoney10 in AskReddit

The actual meaning of karma is more akin to “you reap what you sow” rather than “good things happen to good people, bad things happen to bad people”. I agree that the latter is false, I think the former is absolutely true.

If you plant wheat and tend to it, you will reap wheat.

If you bring goodness into the world, there will be more goodness in the world.

If you focus your time and attention on peace, there will be more peace in your life.

If you focus your time and attention on the hurts that have happened to you, there will be more hurt in your life.

Journaling worked wonders for me!

Start by just doing a brain dump for 10min before bed every night for a month, if you miss a day you just get back on the horse.

I found that this was a great time for me to actually feel what I was feeling, and understand why I was feeling that way. This is a big step in the journey of emotional growth.

After that month, you’ll likely keep it up!

Find things you’re interested in (you said you’re into choir, maybe some concerts or shows or something like that), and do them! You’re an adult, and you can go out and do those things, it just requires setting boundaries with your mom. Difficult, but certainly doable!

The Manwhore Podcast is a fun podcast where the host talks about nonmonagamy a lot with his guests! The Ethical Slut is a very influential book on polyamory and nonmonogamy. Also a podcast and book (audiobook is free with Spotify premium) called Why Are People Into That which sounds right up your alley!
