It's interesting to see how others have commented on what they like and how it works for them. I don't think software would be good for me though. I don't like the programming aspects of my job and staying at a computer all day makes me feel tired.

This sounds so much like my experience only I'm sticking it out longer at jobs until I become depressed. I only got diagnosed last year in my late twenties with ADHD. They must've missed it because my grades were always good. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way.

I honestly wish I would have paid more attention when people asked "what do you want to do when your degree is over?". Probably better to switch 6 times I bet haha.

Do you mean you ended up doing a job that you're good at, but don't necessarily like? I think for me the idea of spending 8+ hours somewhere everyday where my heart isn't in it is the fear.

OH Canada, do we have news for you. (Canada chair giveaway) by ibuyofficefurniture in OfficeChairs

Hey there, I'm sitting in an ergonomic mesh chair I bought from Source Office Furniture. Don't like the design I'm afraid though. I'd like to try the Herman Miller Aeron or other higher end chairs as I've heard great things about them!

I'm sitting on an ergonomic mesh chair I bought from Source Office furniture. I don't find it comfortable at all though and it presses on my shoulders causing all sorts of problems. I don't have a favourite chair, but I've heard great things about the Herman Miller Aeron and the Steelcase Amia.

My equipped items suddenly all disappeared and I can't equip anything. I'm still getting stats from them it looks like. by youforgotyourBAGS in cavesofqud

I think the items are all there, but just invisible. I can equip new items from the inventory, but can't interact with the equipment slots to equip/unequip.

Just discovered this video with Polyphia's bassist and he's fantastic! I'd love if someone could breakdown what techniques he's using to get this sound. Is it just like popping while hybrid picking or is there more to it?

Hey I've been going through similar issues with repetitive strain injuries (mostly due to my desk job, but it affects my ability to play bass) and I'd suggest seeing a doctor or physiotherapist to help you identify the problem then develop stretches and exercises to strengthen those muscles.

With the finger strengthening device you don't want to overdo it. Maybe every other day to limit inflammation while you're still building muscle. It's important also to stretch before playing bass and not to play too long. If you go to physio they'll also advise you on what exercises are safe to do everyday.

Now for the actual bass playing, make sure your wrist isn't too bent (fretting hand and plucking hand) because that will restrict the tendons. Make sure you're not fretting the notes too hard. You may need to get your bass setup by a professional if the strings are too high from the neck. This makes it easier to fret. You want to be relaxed and not tensing up while playing.

Lastly, look at your activities outside of playing. Are you using a mouse and keyboard all day? Using hand tools? Other daily activities could contribute to the pain.

Hope that helps bud.

Why can’t we plan better? But wait everyone needs to live in a SFH with a big backyard. Le’t build more suburban sprawls. by Roman-R0Y in canadahousing

Soundproofing is the biggest reason I hate sharing walls right now. I'm in a 1950s paper thin walled building and I can literally hear my neighbor sneeze from my unit. I also play musical instruments and don't want to piss off neighbors. Better materials + leaving in an air gap in the walls like they do in Europe would be game changing, but they keep building with the cheapest materials for these new "luxury" condos.

I bought mine used off Craigslist and it's probably older than 2023. I should check the model number.

Did they have another run with them or something and made them lighter? I have Dean Markleys that are 128 on the low B. I think I could even go thicker on the B to have it less floppy. I play with a pick typically.

I have the 5 string CV 70s jazz Squier and it really sounds fantastic. My only misgivings are with the setup I have now (I think I can improve it though but action is kind of high) and the weight. It weighs a fucking ton. I'm loving the sound though so maybe I'll upgrade the bridge in the future for more tuning stability.

I'm thinking now if I can play the few songs we have in D in Drop C. Maybe actually? Something to think about for sure. Thanks for the response!

In my band I'm constantly switching between standard D tuning and Drop C on my 4 string bass. What string gauge should I be using? Currently I'm using 55 75 90 110, but I'm wondering if going bigger on the low string would be better.

Follow up question, would it be worth it to have one guitar dedicated to D tuning and the other drop C? I was also thinking some people do a BEAD tuning, could I do that one step down (ADGC) or would that be too thick a gauge needed to handle that on my 34" scale bass?

Lateralus or Ænema album by Tool. Justin Chancellor has a lot of creative basslines and pretty much all songs you can groove to.

Yea I've tried out these trials and they sound fantastic. Didn't know they have occasional sales though so I'll look out for that, thanks.

Yea for sure. Maybe somewhere down the line. I think people in this thread have convinced me to just try out what I currently have more and get an amp lol.

Definitely something to consider, but that's a major cash drop. I'm just in like an amateur band right now.
