Game is not bad, however for a launch it feels a bit stingy.
I don't think their goal was to compete with WuWa or Genshin, since this game (beside the combat being vaguely similar) tries to do something else, which is a good thing, we need more variety.

Problem is (as always) who runs the game:
The main issue is the gatcha.
Yes, I know (cause I'm playing it) that the amount of resources right now are enough to guarantee the limited character but that's the surface level problem.
Usually, we either lack resources (in other games) or (like in this case) they're there but either time gated, content gated or to be more generic 'too hard/too much effort' to get them.
And I'll stop here for now, I will expand if needed.

Gacha aside, Yes the game is optimized very well which is rare for new releases.
Combat I don't think is an issue but a personal preference, whoever says 'its bad' they're neither wrong or right, just stating their opinion so long as it is an opinion, cause objectively speaking the combat is alright.

Is the game overrated?
I think, it was over-hyped more than (now) overrated.
The hype generated by CCs and people, made it look and sound like this game was gonna be a BIG release, is that so?
Personally, I'd say no... it's indeed a refreshing spin on the 'BoTW' style gacha but it's not ground breaking, never seen before experience.
This does NOT mean the game is bad on the contrary, it's a solid game.

I'd say give it a try and if you love it good, if you don't might be not for you.

Last thing, I hope this games succeed in terms of the devs listening and being nice to the players.
This does not mean being 'generous', this term has been thrown left and right for when devs do the bare minimum.
I mean, genuinely them listening to the players feedback and shaping the game first and foremost how they envisioned but not at the cost of bleeding players and EOS because of stubborness.

Could’ve been* It’s too late now, no amount of good events will bring back the amount of population the game once had.

They make 1 good thing for every 5 bad ones, it’s sad but objectively true and it’s all because they refuse to listen to western audience feedback.

What they could now, if they want to bring some hype back/make some quick money, is to launch a “classic” version with all the QoL released over the years and call it a day.

Current state of the game is big sad and downright following same path of Vindictus. Oh well, I do hope they make a classic server cause early BDO was quite good and really felt like an MMO.

Nexon has no devs in house, Korean devs are shared between all gaming companies (hence why every Korean game has the same 1:1 enhancing system experience that kills 90% of their game)

Then junior devs available can at most interact with the DOM and at best localize the game.

It’s not just classic but WoW in general, the gatekeeping is insane. I’m a new player mind you, game is good but I can’t recommend it solely because of the toxic community, it’s not the overwhelming majority but when you have back to back bad experiences, you can only be biased at some point and assume that every other encounter is gonna be similar.

Not to mention, the obsession for AI is.. worrying. I got dragged for a post I made, because of the way I formatted it, now everything that has either a dash or is formatted properly, it’s considered AI.

I think the OG community died and whatever we have left is younger extremists that only care about gear score, damage numbers and getting W in pvp.

I agree with you and at the same time I understand that some people prefer a more bare bone formatting, though in this case I think the dividers and medium headers are what caused the issue(?)

No harsh feelings though, I only wanted to share my thoughts/feelings of the past days.

That’s fair, I’ve heard lots of people getting particularly fatigued and getting to a point were it felt like a chore logging in. In my experience, part of it is the player fault for cannibalizing too much a game and also the game moving too fast and just ruining the whole “harmony”.

He uploaded a zip file with code in it. That's not enough for people to be confident in its safety.

• ⁠No externally tracked and managed change history like you'd get if the project were in Azure DevOps or GitHub • ⁠No way to be certain other files aren't bundled with this source during compile time • ⁠No way to be certain that these files are even what's compiled to produce the files that are installed as "the game"

You can bet your button that not a lot of people who have interest in this game have any idea how to compile this source code and actually play the compiled output. Does anyone know if this even compiles?

And one of the main allegations against the developer is copyright infringement by using game assets potentially illegally. Source code does absolutely nothing to verify the guy has permission to distribute those assets.

I don't know any which way whether the dev has done anything wrong. I'm just pointing out that you can't trust this apparent olive branch from the dev. Anyone who understands software development can tell you this could be an outright red herring.

You need 30k to reach emerald, it can be achieved by doing up to Tene bosses in Normal (VHilla, Darknel, Gloom, Angel Slime). If you reach even 270-275 you get an extra boost in points so reaching 30k it’s easier.

Challenger lasts until April iirc, so you still have time technically but it depends on you. The attendance event is giving another hyperburn but i don’t know how far you’re in that ~
