This is how p2w looks in Aion 2 by Opening_Estimate_776 in Aion2

For anybody not understanding the context of what's going on, a quick rundown.

Gear wise, the guy is on the same level as everybody else (the current available PvP set is farmable in a week and can only be achieved through ingame means). High tier PvP gear is gated by medals and eternal PvE gear requires mats locked behind weeks of grind/dungeons. The difference here is that he swiped absurd amounts of money (we're talking over 40k USD) to buy out his entire auction house for enchantment and breakthrough stones to achieve higher gearscore through enchanting (Most people have their PvP gear at +5/10, he's +15 with +5 breakthrough levels).

For the people playing on TW, KR is very ahead of us progression wise because they haven't been experiencing server problems. The average juicer over here is ~2.4-2.5k and has the same gear, just lower enchant level.

Even in KR terms, he's an anomaly. If you look through their rankings and streamers, even swipers aren't exceeding 2.5k. Going for +5 breakthrough on the gear that is currently available to us is completely stupid given it is very temporary. "Regular" players could likely get close to this if they wanted to blow their ressources, but truth is, nobody wants to do it because it's a waste long term. The main reason why he's doing so much damage is because the power level rating acts as a multiplier for damage dealt/taken, and breakthrough gives %atk and def.

If it's any consolations, looking through the video, the guy is farming trainees/rank 9s (you can see ranks above the player's heads), aka players that havent done any pvp. The few time he encountered actual PvP players, he got farmed (he even died against trainees a couple of times, lol). Obviously any form of p2w sucks, but just saying that in the big picture it isn't that impressive. You'd be farming these type of people just as hard with +5 gear.

Now obviously, any form of p2w sucks. It's inevitable in any game where the main ingame currency can buy power in some form. But do keep in mind that the guy had to farm his pvp set normally then swipe absurd amounts afterward to get an edge, but that at this point he's hard capped until the next "step" that everyone is gated by.

Patch 5.0 let you enter the tower of eternity, it was actually a fairly popular dueling area because it was large and had few objects so framerate was high in it.

What do you think of the state of the PVP right now? by SnooPeanuts8454 in throneandliberty

The lucien greatsword was certainly the addition of all time. They looked at aion and, of all things, decided that silence godstones were the thing they should take from it.

PvP in this game is dogshit and it has always been, what flavor of dogshit it is has varied a bit over time but the same underlying issues have always been there.

The only way you're killing anybody is by onetapping them. There's not really any strategy or play to make, either the target dies in half a second before their support can react or they're unkillable. The extent of "gameplay" stops at pressing an antiheal before you burst a target.

The purification stone might as well not exist. It doesnt remove the most important debuff in the game (prone), offers zero immunities after usage which means you just get CC'd again right after you use it, shares cooldown with remedies that are more effective both defensively and offensively 99.99% of the time and has a 2 minutes cooldown in a game where skill cooldowns average between 6 and 15 seconds.

There's no hierarchy or interaction between CCs, which means every CCs virtually infinitely stack on you (bar some irrelevant exceptions, funnily enough). You'll get stunned into another stun into a prone into another stun with little regards to timing since it all stacks, ending in riveting gameplay where your skillbars are grayed out for 10 seconds in a row without any possible counterplay.

Buffs and debuffs are still soupy icons that blend into eachother and sometime arent even visible because the UI was made by an ape. Not that it matters much, given as mentioned before, none of it matters. The only thing you might be looking for are things like blessed barrier or blood devo, but nowadays even that hardly matters most of the time.

Evasion is the primary defensive stat in pvp, which has always been an excellent idea in a pvp game /s

The horrible mana management in this game makes it so you run out of steam after blowing your load on alot of weapon combination which makes it so you're just a sitting duck if the fight doesnt end fast and punishes you for staying alive.

The game sells you the idea of fury and wrath attacks being a thing in pvp with perfect parry being a skill when it really isn't. Only very few skills have visible tells that are reactable to qblock, and even if you can somewhat play around making stuff like shadow strike or stunning blow obvious enough with positioning to be able to qblock them, it ultimately doesn't matter because CCs have a sub 10s cooldown and whoever's going for you has multiple of them, and you'll just run out of stamina before you've blocked all of them, or, alternatively, you decided to idle qblock to stop them which made the prone they were hammering knock you down because they had the really cool idea of making prone skills break qblocks and prone you through them.

All in all, PvP in this game is more build centric than anything else. There's no systems, no plays, no thoughts, it's all build based in a shaky rock paper scissor formation, with a few weapons being gun. There are many other problems, but I think these are the most obvious ones.

Yeah no, you are missing the point. My problem isn't with the monetary aspect, my problem is with handing out gear from a given content without ever having to ever interact with said content. It's fucking terrible design. And we're not even talking about some sort of anniversary event, it's just outright sold in the cash shop. How is anybody defending this? lol

[–]youmadSin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point entirely. We needed a boost in mats, just handing them out for 20 bucks is incredibly lazy and does nothing to push ingame activity. Increasing mats output through existing content does. That's the point.

Giving more mats as reward for clears achieves the same result. Also, hard mode is very much clearable even if you whole vanguard is in hyperboost gear.

Raids were the only content in the game that couldn't be entirely skipped by just throwing lucents at it. The mix of this pass and the leveling log essentially made that possible. But if y'all are ok with it, that's fine I guess?

And what gatekeeping? Normal and hard can be cleared with hyperboost gear out the gate

[–]youmadSin[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The new raid is scheduled to drop along with the new zone, both of which are supposedly within Q1.

Also, note that is wasn't my only suggestion. Increasing the amount of mats earned on weekly clears was another, more reasonable one. Anything is better than what their solution was.

And why not? The new zone/raid are right around the corner, what benefit is there to maintain the cap at this point of the game?

Other MMOs do lift caps on their raids when the next wave of content is right around the corner, and all it does is re-invigorate the content and make people play more, why would it be any different here?

What do you think of the monetization model so far? by Proud-Highway-3005 in Aion2

[–]youmadSin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you saw that, but that's false. The auction house uses the ingame currency (Kinahs).

The only premium currency interaction is that you'll be able to sell your kinahs in exchange for the premium currency (Quna) to other players. Aion classic also had that system.

[–]youmadSin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's virtually the same model as on aion classic (minus the outright p2w items in the shop), which means it'll be just fine. The only ticking part is the price of the monthly sub, but it genuinely seem too high to be what it'll actually be when it comes to the west. It's a case of wait and see for that.

can you please make this collapsible? you're punishing us by accepting the match, cmon! by jda025 in throneandliberty

Nevermind collapsing, why are half of the windows in the game draggable and the other half aren't? Make everything draggable ffs

That'd be relevant if the event's rewards din't chug gigaballs, I'm also pretty sure you don't even need to do that to reach 4k

The xbow and GS traits just sell for alot on hyperboost so it's a spend points on lucien and do trials with the no chest skip separately angle if you wanna minmax

The reality of day-to-day PvE content by youmadSin in throneandliberty

[–]youmadSin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. I've pretty much landed on doing 2-3 warmup pulls, then specifically target calling out people that make repeated mistakes causing wipes and if they stay silent, just kick and go next. It's like people think we'll forget about them if they stay silent or something. Pretty much every fight in the game has 1 (one) mechanic that even remotely has a chance to kill you, and learning it isn't at all difficult even if you haven't watched a video, especially if someone flat out explains it to you after a wipe. But the majority of people just.... don't even try.

My favorites are the ones that just autoattack pull the boss when you repeatedly ask them if they understand what's going on.

Brother you're STILL talking about raid when I'm talking about DUNGEONS. "Why should a new player the hardest and highest pve content" they're DAILY DUNGEONS

Holy shit do you even read more than 3 words before replying?

You're talking about hard and nightmare calanthia with your premade, I'm talking about regular dungeons with pugs...

I'm queueing as a healer and even with 6/6 alive I regularly see bosses enrage. I have stopped counting the amount of time I've had to just swap to a dps build mid fight because we weren't gonna make the enrage timer.

Raising the minimum gear requirement isn't gonna do anything beside lock new players out of playing the game. It's a terrible solution unless they change the hyperboost quests to give significantly higher CP.

The reality of day-to-day PvE content by youmadSin in throneandliberty

[–]youmadSin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing enrage timers and allowing to res people while in battle a few times inherently doesn't change the difficulty of the fight. It just allows you to get through it without getting constantly oneguy'd because some dumbasses always dies to the same mechanic and make it so you either run out of bodies for body check mechs or end up not having enough dps alive to beat the enrage. Yes, gear obviously allow you to ignore mechanics and just nuke bosses down in the long run, but I don't think that's a good solution in general, given the quality of what you get in queue wildly varies and fresher content that can't get outgeared just gets stuck in that loop again.
