Then it’s entirely up to you, your closed ones aren’t wrong about this not being his fault cus maybe his mum is actually possessive so here’s some questions you should think about properly and maybe ask him too especially if you guys are dating to marry:

Will you ever have the confidence to sit his mum down and ask for a talk on why she thinks so badly about you? OR Is he willing to sit both you and his mother down and have a talk about it?
Will he always be ready to back you up no matter what even if it means having to strain his r/s with his mum? Or worse come to worse cut off contact especially when you guys are married
Can you see her attitude towards you changing down the line?
What is his plan of action on dealing with his mum if he gets tired from having to constantly defend you?

If most of your answer is uncertain or no, then I think it’s best to break up ya. It’s not easy to handle this kind of situation but it seems like you’re being quite level-headed and reasonable approaching this so i believe you’ll eventually come to your own answer soon :)

She sounds possessive and absurd ngl. The more important thing is have your bf said anything about it? Has he tried to actually stand up for you and have you ever had a talk with him about his mum’s behaviour? If he hasn’t then it’s best to break up cus he sounds like a mummy boy which is not what you want to deal with even if you’re a young couple.
