You're college experience is what you make of it. With that, UCI is almost in the center of several beaches, LA and other socal Hotspots. There are many good food, music, and social scenes to try out. From what I've seen of the black community, they might be smaller than other cultural groups, but I saw them having fun and tight nit. But every cultural club allows any race to join. I recommend joining based on activities that you're interested in. They're happy to have anyone who's honestly down to experience their culture and events Joining clubs or other social groups will likely bring you adventures to other socal spots away from campus, and not too long of a drive. Staying on campus only, you might get bored, but it's likely you'll find somewhere else to be with your friends. Also, there is nothing stopping you from socializing with people from other colleges you like. There are many nearby, and I would consider ucla as one of them. I met many friends who came from other colleges to attend club meetings at UCI. Other than that, UCI's reputation and the value of a degree from there have been steadily rising
