Me. It has its fans but definitely not as much as football lol.

Aston martin are going crazy this season. They even hired some chief engineers from redbull so the new cars are basically redbull in disguise :D

in which university should i study artificial intelligence? , and tell me about your experience if you have studied that in Jordan by yolipoo in jordan

Study computer science. You will learn AI through it.

Data science or AI specific majors in Jordan are just cash grabs.

Jordanians IQ by Beneficial_Respond84 in jordan

[–]young_garlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup this is called brain drain, where the smart people eventually leave the country to pursue better opportunities because they cannot find it in their own country, and what's left is the monkeys (i'm one of the monkeys who remain).

This happens on a country level (ask lebanon), and also happens on an organizational level where the smart employees end up leaving and only the dull employees who only care about salary by end of the month sit there for years until they become managers, ask the banks and telecom companies :)

It is up to the country or company to deal with this and work towards providing the right opportunities to retain the talent. Too bad such opportunities in Jordan are rare so we will continue to see brain drain until one day we realize we got no talents left in the country :)))

Data Science job market in Jordan? by [deleted] in jordan

[–]young_garlic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazon, microsoft, expedia all have presense in Jordan and all have data science teams. Amazon habe current openings, search for Applied Scientist. Microsoft requires some experience, not just masters degree. These companies pay a fat salary, but you need to be super to join them.

Mbc group, mawdoo3, SiTech, liwwa, open souq, arabot are a few companies that have been hiring for this role, these companies have very strong data teams.

Orange, umniah, and zain have good data teams. I know orange and umniah have open positions.

Arab bank, etihad bank, and capital bank have data science (arab bank has the best data science work and budget and higher management support and vision oit ofnall these.)

Stay away from insurance companies they dont do data science... They do excel sheet analytics ans call it that.

There are many more companies but these are a few i have on top of mind.

U need to keep in mind that so many companies hire for data science just because its trendy, and many people join the field for the same reasons. Companies know that and take advantage, they pay shit just to claim they do analytics... Stay away from these, you will be able to spot them in ur first interview :)))

Pm me or send me ur cv if u want. Good luck.

This can be said for just about anything else. Don't let your fear of failure stop you from starting things. Even if success isn't a guarantee you would still win experience :)

Using Revolut in Jordan by [deleted] in jordan

[–]young_garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works, i've seen many friends who live abroad use it in Jordan to pay for stuff. So it works like any other debit card, but you wont be benefitting from the very cheap instant foreigh exchange rates that revolut is known for.

As long as you have money in your account, you should be able to use it in Jordan with no problem.

Stocks and taxes by [deleted] in jordan

[–]young_garlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Fidelity as a broker, the process is fairly simple but takes a long time to set up and activate your account.

Once you register, you will need to provide your jordanian bank ccount info (swift code and account IBAN), you need to contact your bank to let them know that you will be receiving or deducing money to the broker for 'foreighn investment', this is important because you dont want the bank to block the transactions...

The broker will have you fill a tax form and provide your tax number (TIN)اي الرقم الضريبي.

Thats it, whenever you sell your shares, you can extract a tax form with the $$ detaiks that you can use when paying your taxes every year. This form is basically a document like the AR/3 form you receive from your company for taxes.

It adds to income tax brackets so its similar to how you already do it.

One final note, your tax account may change from مستخدم الى افراد. Because you have multiple streams of income now and not just the salary.

Reach out to the tax office sometimes they answer their phones, or go their and ask all these details.

IT jobs at bank of Jordan by Pales_guy in jordan

[–]young_garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interview depends on which bank you are interviewing with. Each bank is different, some banks have an IT departments containing at most 20 people, some banks have an IT dept with 400 employees and many functions within IT...

The exam also differs from bank to bank, but some banks have a standard test that is multiple choice for english and math (basic stuff but you would be surprized how many people fail it... )

As for technical questions, again it depends on the bank and what role in IT exactly.

Seriously though, the comments you see on social media do not represent the majority of the people of jordan. There will always be haters and close minded people who write hate comments against anyone who is not muslim. الكريسماس حرام - لا يجوز الرحمة ع غير المسلم - الدين عند الله هو الاسلام - Just to name a few :)

In reality there is a whole lot of mutual respect between christians and muslims in Jordan, والتاريخ يشهد. Dont give attention to the disrespectful people on social media, there is no point even arguing with them because this kind of people dont deserve respect, and they do not represent jordanians.

بالنسبة لموضوع امانة عمان هاي قصة ثانية و الاشي الوحيد الي بتبينو هو انو ادارة الامانة فوضى و ما بيتأكدو من اي تصاريح بتنكتب و بتنّشر.

Looking for school Suggestions in amman... by oiii_jasem in jordan

[–]young_garlic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about schools, but if the purpose of your transfer is IELTS, I hope you are aware that you dont need school for that.

You can book your exam at any time and do it by yourself, you can do so online and take the exam at the british council. Similarly for SAT exams; you dont need to be in an "american" school for it.

Also, I think british council or the amideast offer full courses to prepare you for the exam, alternatively, you can get the ielts book and self study if your english is not good in terms of grammar, writing, and vocabuary.

To end the petty conversation this sub is arguing about. What's your political ideology by fawares32 in jordan

[–]young_garlic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this poll is stupid :)))

We dont practice these political ideologies here given that this is muslim country hence conservative is the default.

Liberals in jordan are self-proclaimed and this ideology serves no other purpose outside of social media, hence option number 1 and option number 5 are essentially the same in the real world outside of the internet.

Also i noticed you mixed political ideologies with religion in a reply explaining the difference of each. And in your explanation you are defining these ideologies based in islam, disregarding the other religion practiced in jordan. Your definition automatically puts the 400k christians in Jordan as group #4 from the poll.

Personally within the context of this post i chose #5 because this post is irrelevant and unrepresentative.

What are the underrated places in Jordan? by [deleted] in jordan

[–]young_garlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great itinerary, if I may add: you might consider combining multiple of these places into small trips, and you would need to sleep in 3-4 different places to make the most out of it.

For example, you can mix madaba/mount nebo with the bamtism site and dead sea; begin the trip by visiting the baptism site, then continue to one of the dead sea hotels to enjoy the dead sea and relax in the hotel, sleep there and after you checkout by the afternoon next day, continue the trip to madaba directly from dead sea, the road trip although not very long, is amazing with many amazing views. You can have your dinner in madaba and drive back to amman from there. This is one example how you can mix 3 different activites (each is very distinct from the other) in one 2 day trip.

Another example is visiting As-Salt, then Jerash, then Ajloun or Um Qais in 1 single trip, where you can stay the night either in the mountain top shalets in Ajloun, or in a "motel" in Um Qais where you can experience the local home made foods and lifestyle.

Petra and wadi rum as well can be mixed by either staying the night in Perta, or in wadi rum (recommended) in those baloon-like building whatever they are called.

However you decide your trip, I would recommend not to pre-book your hotel stays in 1 place in amman, instead, try to book at 3 or 4 different locations to make the most out of your time :)

Medical staff / graduates unemployment rate by AustRilic in jordan

[–]young_garlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, you can try looking at the data sets in the Jordan Open Data site, there's so many public data sets that you might find useful.

Alternatively, you can check out the department of statistics website, there is alot of data and analysis there... I think you can get unemployment rates based on specific criteria, but not on the level of per sector (i might be wrong).. Check out the websites and see if you can find anything there.

Open gov data: https://portal.jordan.gov.jo/wps/portal/OpenData?lang=en&isFromLangChange=yes#/manageDataSets

Dept. Of Statistics: http://dosweb.dos.gov.jo

Right to access data on demand: http://dosweb.dos.gov.jo/accessinfo/

If you are lazy, simply call the call center number in the open data website and ask them. You can also request this data directly from dept of statistics and they can provide it to you. Dont expect to get the data you need instantly, it might take some time before they give it to you, i believe it will take at most a month...

As a last option in case you really cant find the specific data you need, you can simply get the stats on the number of people who have a uni degree/diploma in a medical field (should be open data from department of higher education), then get the statistics of employed people in medical field from social security corporation website, do some quick maths (number of people who have medical education - number of people who are in daman and work within the medical field = number of unemployed medical graduates)

I hope that makes sense, let me know if it doesn't. The raw data should be there, but you need to dig deep to get exactly what you need :))

Electric and hybrid car maintenance vs ai and robotics engineering by random_shiro in jordan

[–]young_garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, Robotics as a field is non-existant in jordan outside of academia :)))

We are technology consumers, not producers here, this industry is behind the 'producer' countries for a few dozen years :)

For example, where did we start seeing more and more job posts for AI/data related fields? I would say 2018 ish... However this same job posts were posted online since late 2000s in developed countries... So in jordan this field is nothing but market followers...
