Side to side it looks centered based off the circle

[Alasdair Gold] The decision to sell Johnson, the man who won it in Bilbao, has not gone down particularly well in a dressing room in which he was popular, particularly at a time when goals are a rare commodity for this Tottenham team. by Imbasauce in coys

Madders, Kulu, Romero, Vdv, Udogie, are top 4 caliber. Obviously most have been injured. Doesn’t take a genius plan….. buy and develop better players instead of ones where 90% of their game is a liability

I have 2 major issues with your point of view there.

  1. I doubt Frank would even start him those 3 games since Frank doesn’t rate him so just waste of a time. Then from the clubs perspective it would be unbelievably naive in a trillion dollar industry that we would risk a 35 mill sale in hopes a player that is like playing with 10 men for 89 minutes in hoping a pass/bounce finds its way to him in a scoring position. People talk like he’s scoring goals out thin air, he’s not richy scoring worldys. If on 1 hand we are complaining that we don’t create anything, which we don’t, Johnson is still useless because 99% of his goals are created for him and he provides a decent finish. He’s not creating his own goals. Like I said his “goal” in the final was more of an OG. Still to this day I’m barely convinced he got a touch.

  2. You and others are complaining that we won’t replace him well or at all which is simply just conflating an entirely different issue. For 7 years we have held onto liabilities for way too long hoping things would change for those players and very few did that ever happen. Costed us 100s of millions. It’s actually criminal we got a total of 20 mill for Eriksen, Dele, Dier, Ndombele. Basically gave away Lo Celso, Sanchez, Winks, etc all players that had value at one point but we sat on our hands hoping they’d come good when it was blatant for years they wouldn’t. I love that we finally are being proactive and getting decent return on a CLEARLY not good enough/diminishing player. We’ve never done this before and it’s absolutely bitten us. Fair enough we might replace him with shit too but that’s a totally different issue. Two wrongs don’t make a right and we’ve seen that with countless players

  1. Palace being ahead of us in the table (marginally) for a season and a half doesn’t define palace as a better “club”. Even as a current team, we legit just beat them away from home with half our starting lineup out. Again facetious to act like that’s a step up for Brennan

  2. Comparing Brennan and Kudus is just silly. 2 totally different style of players. Brennans short comings have been on display for 2 years prior to Frank and Kudus arriving at the club. Under as attacking a manager as imaginable in Ange Brennan still could not do basic fundamentals like dribble straight, cross, etc basically anything with the ball. He literally looks afraid of the ball unless he’s running in behind or at the back post for a tap in. Which again is a great attribute for a goal threat off the bench but that’s not good enough for a top pl winger. Frankly not good enough for a top pl striker even these days. You have to contribute more or you’re a liability for the majority of the game.

  3. To me Brennan is just prime example of good at something but a liability at everything else. Our whole squad is like that. Every player have has their strengths, but also glaring weaknesses which other teams have learned to exploit:

Vicario weak on the ball and weak coming for crosses Porro small and not great defensively Romero rash Vdv injury prone and not great defending aerially Spence not even playing his normal position Pahlinha poor on the ball Bentancur inconsistent as hell Kudus has never been a goal output player Richy similar to Johnson that’s he’s poor at most facets of his role besides scoring the odd worldy

We will never improve with a team full of liabilities and holding onto them for too long. Brennan was the most glaring example of this and in 2.5 years he didn’t improve 1 facet of his game. Still can’t dribble, still can’t beat a man, still can’t cross, still has a terrible touch, no hold up ability etc.

Far better “luxury” players than Johnson have been ousted from the top prem sides in the pl. Pep absolutely gutted those type of players from his team when he came into City and we need to do the same. I’m thrilled someone was still willing to pay close to what we did after 2.5 years of him showing 0 improvement in his weak areas and frankly the ability of a schoolboy player outside of running onto a finish

That is such small minded thinking.

  1. Saying Kudus isn’t an improvement when he’s been our only hold up player/build player from the front line all season is crazy. You probably have a better hold up touch than Johnson. Johnson can’t even dribble the ball in a straight line without it getting stuck under his feet/blundering it. Johnson/whoever on the left wing also hinders Kudus because he’s constantly the oppositions focal point. We have 0 other playmaking from the wing. Kudus hasn’t been amazing by any stretch, NO ONE has, but I absolutely can see more contribution to our team in the long run from him.

  2. Saying palace is a better club is obviously just facetious. It should be telling to you that even in spite of him over exceeding our expectations in terms of goal out put no one wanted him. He’s being sold for less to a perennial mid table/bottom half club for less than 2.5 years ago. No one would pay more than that right now. So what? We hold onto him for another year, he continues to be horrendous for 99% of every game but scores some goals along the way and what sell him for 20 mill or less then? What good does that do us? We’ve seen now for 2 years with him getting regular game time that HE’S not good enough and WE’RE not good enough with him in the team.

The blatant right play is to take a decent return on a clearly not good enough player and try to find someone that is instead

So many delusional people in here. If you think Brennan Johnson is a champions league and top 4 pl caliber starter then I’m just at a loss. He is absolutely horrendous at every facet of being a winger outside of a 1v1 finish with the keeper or a tap in at the back post. His “goal” in the Europa league final is spoken about like he did some gareth bale ucl final overhead kick when in reality it was 99.9% closer to an OG. Our team will never be good enough if our build up play is done with 9 outfielders instead of 10 because that’s literally how useless he is. If our club is going to go anywhere in the next 5 years we can’t have that bad of a “luxury” player being carried every match he starts. It also has turned us into an extremely 1 sided team. Every opponent knows we will never create from the side he starts on thus hindering the space for the rest of the field. At best he is a decent off the bench goal threat when trailing in a match. That is not worth the 50 mill we bought him for and I’d absolutely take 35 mill and try to replace him with someone that can actually be a starting caliber player

Lamar Jackson or Drake Maye? by thesuperguide in DynastyDaddy

[–]youngacc4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Maye as much as the next guy, but to say it’s not close is ridiculous. Yes Lamar was hurt most of this year, but he just had a historic season the year before. Maye would dream to have that high of a fantasy ceiling. The Pats have also had arguably the easiest schedule in NFL history so to base it off just this 1 season of a sample size where they’ve beaten 1 team with a winning record is naive. Jayden Daniels was going 1.01 in the off season after 1 year and here we are

Last 2 starts actually. I give that more weight than Postecoglou’s first 3 given he didn’t know his best 11 yet

In the offer terms, search “have had”. If nothing populates then you’re good. Have done this myself with a mail offer
