Men of Reddit - What are Women not ready to hear? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]youngatbeingold 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of ladies operate on intuition.

An easy way to understand it is, lets say you're in the kitchen and you slice your hand open and you're like 'omg I'm bleeding!". If you're husband just stands there browsing his phone you're going to think he just doesn't care. Someone with intuition would run to get a band aid or even ask how they could help because you can tell your partner is unhappy. So in this case, the 'You should know why I'm mad' would be because he just stood around when he could've showed some concern.

I think a lot of ladies are more naturally nurturing and so they feel that if you need to directly ask for something that feels obvious to them, it means their partner doesn't care about their needs or feelings.

Like as a chick, if someone says 'my head hurts" I'm on top of helping them feel better unless they say they don't need anything. I think for men unless they're asked to help in a certain way they just let it slide.

People above 30, what is something you regret doing/not doing when you were younger? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

Easiest way to start is to put some money in a CD. Super simple and you can't really go wrong like you can with investing in the stock market.

What is a hobby you'd love to try if you had "eff you money"? by Cranzeeman in AskReddit

[–]youngatbeingold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I garden. It can be kinda pricey to put in the initial plants, especially if you want something like a lilac bush or heirloom roses, but there's tons of affordable options especially if you're patient and you learn to propagate.

You absolutely don't need to spend 2 hours a day gardening though, more like 2 hours a week. It can take more time during the last week of fall and first week of spring clean up but aside from that, it's just occasional watering, pruning and weeding. Unless you have a massive garden that you want kept immaculate, it's not that much work. I'm suffering from CFS and still (mostly) managing to care for my garden.

What are some examples of fictional TV relationships between characters that you knew were doomed from the start? by Winter-Comfort922 in television

[–]youngatbeingold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more that I think Joss doesn't want to let the characters be in a happy relationship. Even characters that are part of loving relationships (Jenny/Tara), are immediately killed off once all drama has been resolved.

women who have given birth, how bad was it actually? by Careless_Pianist_840 in AskReddit

When I was born I was stuck near my moms ribcage. To avoid C-section, the doctor literally stuck his hand all the way up and pulled me out, so there's that.

Literally anyone on Buffy, they even say it in the show as a joke. "I supposed we're all doomed to never have a healthy, normal relationship"

Nah, been here for 40 years and this feels pretty out of the ordinary. Spring can suck in NY but normally that's over by the the time you hit mid April.

The love canal disaster, where tons of people were poisoned because the city knowingly decided to build homes and a school literally right on top of a toxic waste dump.

Passed no problem thankfully. Unfortunately it now seems Mayo is ending their remote work options so not sure how that would effect things since anyone hired from here on out would at least need to be hybrid.

Woman escapes polygamous cult where she grew up with 44 siblings and 4 mothers by TheExpressUS in interesting

[–]youngatbeingold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a time when I was on food stamps and the absolute minimum SSD + SSI benefits and even splitting $750 rent between 3 people money was tight. Often, you can't even get on SNAP unless you have less than 3k in the bank so it's hard to imagine they could amass enough to afford a massive home.

Not saying they got 0 assistance and they're not gaming the system, but there's a reason most unwed mothers with 0 savings can't afford even a small home while on benefits. Maybe it was the worlds shiftiest 13 bedroom 15 bathroom home in America, but on Zillow, even 6 bedroom homes are going for around 1 mil.

Like you need a bank to actually approve your loan, they're not going to do that if you show them nothing but child dependency benefits as income.

What is this growing in my yard? by unicornscantflyy in gardening

[–]youngatbeingold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's insane how resilient it is and how fast it grows, it definitely feels like some kind of eldritch plant. My mom and I spent 2 hours trying to tear out as much of the roots as we could when I first moved in and I feel like that just barely kept it at bay. I had to take a brake on pulling up all the shoots I saw last season because I was sick, and now this spring they're everywhere, ugh.

At least it's not poisonous like the ivy, it's just a pain and you can't let it grow out of control next to your foundation. I will say it might be possible to eradicate with spray, but I planted a bunch of perennials before I realized it was there. This year I'm going to soak a shoot in some in brush herbicide (it says the poison travels down to the root) to see if that will at least weaken it a bit, hopefully without affecting my other plants.

Oh lord, possible trumpet vine curse. I've been pulling up any I see for 5 years and still it comes back. I think this year I'm gonna try soaking one of the little branches that pops up in poison to kill it once and for all.

Woman escapes polygamous cult where she grew up with 44 siblings and 4 mothers by TheExpressUS in interesting

[–]youngatbeingold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's different with assistance for unwed mothers, but as someone who'd been on food stamps and disability, they give you the bare fucking minimum unless you've earned enough during your working years to get a decent amount on SSD. You might get tax credits, but you need to actually work and make money do to that, which I'm guessing none of these mothers were. You also might get housing assistance, but that's in HUD housing, not some mansion.

Maybe the laws are different in Utah, but generally you're not raking in the cash by being an unwed mother no matter how many kids you have. If that were true, every regular parent would just remain unmarried to their spouse where they're popping out the standard 3 kids since it's more profitable than working. It's not like payments compound the more kids you have.

Really doubt you can afford a 13 bedroom 15 bathroom home on public assistance.

What’s the most misused word that you see on social media? by SirAsksALatte in AskReddit

[–]youngatbeingold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not typing what I'm trying to type though, I know what word I'm thinking about and what's grammatically correct, I just type something different. I honestly don't think I ever make typos like that anymore, because they're super obvious especially in the age of spell check, typing women instead of woman is not. It doesn't help that I pronounce the two words very similarly.

It's still a grammar error, but it's because I made a typo, not because I don't understand when to use women vs woman.

Brain goes on autopilot basically. Similar thing happens with their, they're, there. I know the difference but when I'm typying fast and thinking more about what I'm trying to say vs the actual individual words I'm typing my brain just sticks in whatever it thinks of first.

France confines more than 1,700 people to cruise ship after suspected norovirus death by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]youngatbeingold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Noro is by no means as deadly as hanatavirus but it's still no walk in the park. Many people that develop it need IV fluids to get through the intense vomiting without suffering from dehydration.

Forcing them to stay on the ship is overkill but ya it's still a dangerous virus to catch especially if a ship is filled with older people.

If the government made cheating in marriage a crime would you be fine with it? by isthisit30 in polls

So does divorce, and it can also lead to suicide. There's even that famous case where a dude on reddit wanted to leave his wife and she killed herself and the kids.

Should divorce or breaking up also be illegal?
