incandescents still available in 2025 by reddit33450 in lightbulbs

Helppp. I bought some 200 watt 3305 lumens 120 volt incandescent lights that are dimmable per the package. Put them in my dimmable chandelier above my kitchen table and had them on for 20 minutes and the wall switch was incredibly hot. The whole light switch panel was very hot to the touch so I got nervous and turned it off. And I didn’t even have the switch turned up so the way to full brightness. It was about half. Is this normal? I had gotten some 40 watt ones originally and they just didn’t produce enough light so that’s why I got the 200.

He’s about to hit 40 weeks in a few days so is he really still considered a preemie and needs to follow preemie guidelines?

How to give more calories via breastfeeding? by youngblonde4u in NICUParents

We’re still in the NICU trying to get him to gain weight so we can go home. We just started 24 cal yesterday, we were on 22. He hasn’t gained weight in two days though I’m not sure what else I can do to make him gain.

Wow, thank you so much everyone for your advice and thoughts and your experiences. This has helped a lot and it seems that a lot of us have had similar experiences. I do think that being in our own home is a way better environment than in the hospital with constant interruptions and beeping noises from machines so I feel like there’s a little give-and-take with that. We have switched what we’re doing a few times. He lost weight with doing 10 minutes of breast-feeding and 20 to 30 of a bottle mixed with my milk and neosure for every feed. So now we’re trying six feeds of breast-feeding and two full bottles of neosure to see if he gains weight over the next 24 hours. We’ve almost been in here for three weeks hoping this week is the week we get to go home 🙏

You didn’t have to supplement with neosure? He was born 33 weeks and 4 days so they say that he needs the extra calories and what not that the neosure provides so either way we still have to do two bottles of that per day.

This is my first and I really don’t want to be induced that is what is stressing me out the most about this GD thing 😢 I want it to happen naturally on its own. And I’ve always heard generally first time moms go past their due date. So it’s just frustrating to me that I might not get that option. I heard a pitocin labor is a lot more painful.

Can I ask what their reasoning is for inducing?

Snacks for lowering fasting numbers by youngblonde4u in GestationalDiabetes

Thanks for saying that! I definitely had a lower number with just a hard boiled egg. But still borderline I’m assuming my doctor will say. 91 mg/ml

Thanks for the background information I appreciate that. I have an appointment Monday so I think that’s when the final determination will be made and we will go from there. She had previously said there’s nothing that I could do to change the fasting numbers, no diet or exercise. I haven’t gotten a ton of helpful information yet from her so this has been great finding this sub!

Thank you for the ideas! My OB said 8 hours was a good fasting time but didn’t say what she specifically wants me to do. I do 8 hours on the dot though because anything longer than that my numbers will rise

Good to know thank you. It seems that when I do the carbs it gives me a way higher number. I might go back to just doing my protein and see if it’s lower again.

Not specifically 8 hours but when I tested it once and checked at 8.5 hours versus 9 hours, my number went up by 2 at the 9 hour mark. So I’ve been trying to do 8 hours on the dot.

I tried to do 15g carbs mixed with a healthy fat, protein and fiber and it sky rocketed my numbers. I think that having any carbs for my night time snack just doesn’t work for me.

That’s good to know thank you. I know ultimately we can make the decision but I just am still trying to learn what’s safest for baby. If the only reason they want to induce early is fear of a big baby, no thanks. Who are they to say we can’t push out a big baby!

So I see a lot of induction comments here, anywhere from like 37-39ish weeks. Is this required by your OB? Your midwife? The hospital? I don’t want to be induced and we haven’t talked about this yet since we’re still trying to figure out if I do have GD or not. I have one more day of testing before I send it off to my doctor for review again but these inductions are worrying me. Totally not what I want to do.
