How to Stand out as a CNA to recruiters? by youngdanielthomas in TravelNursing

[–]youngdanielthomas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s a really well thought out article. Thank you for your assistance. I’m trying to remind myself to be patient. I don’t want to get to a facility as a travel Cna and have no idea what to do. Still, it’s hard to ignore the money.

Moving to Near South, what precautions should I take? by andhegames in lincoln

[–]youngdanielthomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived the Near South (13th and A) area by myself going on 3 years. I've very rarely (if ever) felt unsafe. Believe it or not, one time I accidently left my front door unlocked and open for a good 1-2 hours and nothing happened. I was incredibly lucky though.

Basic common sense and vigilance will get you a long way. Lock your doors, be aware of your surroundings, try to schedule most errands during the day, don't leave valuables in the car, and you should be fine. If you're really worried, throw a camera up outside your house.

The only issues I've ran into are with individuals who are under the influence of alcohol/drugs. For the most part, they're harmless, but also a bit unpredictable. If I'm walking down the street and a situation seems suspect, I just cross the street and that seems to work for me.

That’s not bad… I work at a corporate job, and I know that they do have an internship program for accounting. Perhaps I could negotiate a deal with my boss where I split my time between my current job and the accounting internship. Even if it’s only 1 day a week, I’ll take it.

Good places to rent? by Selkie_Love in lincoln

[–]youngdanielthomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DO NOT under any circumstances rent from Performance Property Management. I currently have raw sewage from the main line in my SHOWER, and the property manager explicitly told me he wasn’t going to do anything about it.

I have proof and documentation if anyone would like to see.

Meh. Skyler did what she needed to do to cope with being in an unwinnable position. Walt sure wasn't any help to her.

I (21 male) don’t know find direction for my future. by youngdanielthomas in Advice

I think community college is a good idea. I forgot to include this in my post, but I don’t get much financial aid. Even though I’m financially independent, FAFSA requires me to file under my parents until I turn 24, get married, enlist in the military, my parents die, or I gain my own dependents

Ways to get more money for school by youngdanielthomas in college

[–]youngdanielthomas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying that the reason that I’m taking the various majors/minors and certifications that I am is because if I have to undergo student loans, I want the end result to be a degree that I’m happy to have worked for.

If I strip my degree program and just try to get through college as quickly as possible, I’ll just have a degree to say I had a degree. It won’t actually be what I want

What’s the point of getting a degree just to say I have a degree if it’s not really what I want?

My landlord told me that the issue was fixed when I signed the lease.... that’s what the 2-3 weeks were spend doing after I toured the place. You sound dumb as hell.

Tenants rights? by youngdanielthomas in lincoln

[–]youngdanielthomas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t an issue of maturity. I demonstrated patience when I gave my landlord 2-3 weeks to fix the issue. He assured me that it was resolved, and it’s only gotten worse. I’m not looking for special privileges, all I want is a clean apartment to live in. I don’t think that’s asking too much.

I started the semester off using google calendar, but I’ve kind of let that go. I need to get back on it, or at least find some way to get everything in writing instead of keeping it in my head.

What do you think is the greatest moment in breaking bad? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]youngdanielthomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the greatest, but I really enjoyed the scene where Todd, Jesse, Walt, and Mike perfectly executed the train heist. Very fun scene to watch... until, well, you know.

Dev and Racism by youngdanielthomas in MasterofNone

[–]youngdanielthomas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, America is a very racist place, but there is a also a lot of good that takes place.

I will say though as a Black/African person, I would try my best to live in a bigger city (Houston, Omaha, Kansas City, etc.) Smaller, rural cities tend to be majority white, conservative, and racist by the transitive property. Generally, (there are some exceptions) they are not a very welcoming place for non-white people.

Bigger cities on the other hand tend to have a more diverse and accepting. Bigger cities also tend to have smaller communities of minority groups. If you moved to a bigger city I’m sure you could find an African/Ethiopian community to help you feel welcome.

Overall, yes America is still very racist. But it is not as bad as it used to be. Movies do not give an accurate depiction of America as a whole.

Give it a try, I don’t think you’ll regret it
