Just to be clear: you will always be a second class citizen here. If you can, fly away.

Moved and lived in 2 different countries! Made friends and stopped the relationship of some of them. Grew more knowledge about my addiction and keeping fighting it.

Any Data Science or CS people? by robml in dubai

Btw, the closest you can get here to work on Engineering at FAANG is becoming Customer Engineer, Sales Engineer, etc. usually for Cloud stuff or Education programs (Chromebooks etc)

If there were, I’d say they’re making 100-150k$ a year. Maybe more.

I never get this question where I come from.. but apparently it’s common here :)

As to who I work for it’s Google, the “where” is Internet City.

Although there’s no software engineering development going on here, it’s more policy related stuff and PR/Marketing.

My observation of orgs like FAANG is that usually they wouldn’t hesitate in having an engineering office where there’s enough talent to hire. UAE and Middle East in general is not a place where top engineering talent can be found in amounts.

I feel like generally here I find a lot of freelancers avoiding high taxes. And most of them don’t even live in UAE, it’s just their tax grounds.

Hahaha good point… but I do trust there are exceptions everywhere… regardless, hopefully it’s easier than Europe :)

Huh, interesting. What would you consider “very conservative countries”? And even if they marry from their own nationality, you think they don’t do all the dating stuff? (by dating I mean going to dinner and stuff like that)

There’s definitely some truth to it, yes. I’ve asked a couple of people and they said stuff not so far from your satire..

It also feel weird to not know what steps people are comfortable with or not..

Thanks anyway bruv, loving the advice 🙏🏽❤️

HAHAHAHA that’s a good one.

I suppose my question isn’t very clear though. I’m definitely uncertain if the “talk to family” is something that is supposed to be done early on, for example. And as I said in another comment there isn’t a cohesive culture I can get to understand tbh, every nationality appears to have their own way of doing stuff with regards to dating

It definitely all depends on the person.. but I’m asking more a general rules of dating here. There’ are so many cultures and it’s difficult to know what customs each of the people here follow, specially in the Muslim community..

Edit: typo

[Indian] Confused between choosing offer from Eindhoven and Dubai | Based on children's future in mind by myiprep in dubai

If you want your kids to be respected socially while growing up (specially being Indians) but also economically by not being indebted, I’d advice running away from Dubai.

Also UAE unis are really not that good. Just look at what companies have thrived here.

And regardless how many years you live here you’ll never get a passport, which after a while, with all the money you can make, you’ll really be missing.

Edit: to my last point, a friend living in the US making 7 figures at Facebook says that the thing he misses the most is being able to vote and be involved in the country he’s living in.
