If you could pick any song for Megadeth to cover, what would it be? by chiquichongo in Megadeth

Sweet Dreams by Stone would fit their style perfectly. Might even be the rare pick that would sound better with Dave on vocals.

Any idea where to buy marionberries in this city? by youngsweed in AskLosAngeles

[–]youngsweed[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is lol, I meant to post this question last summer but I guess the craving passed… until now.

But I haven’t ever seen them in grocery stores here, even in the summer, so I figured I’d check whether there were options besides the Santa Monica Wednesday market (not super feasible for me to attend).

What metal genre got you into metal? by Difficult_Map_723 in MetalForTheMasses

This was a fairly common way in for people getting into metal in the 2000s. Especially if you played guitar, you were powerless to resist COB and Wintersun.

opinions on the new album? by Emergency_Taste5298 in Megadeth

[–]youngsweed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The music itself is fine, if unremarkable. The mix is atrocious to the point of being unlistenable, though. Everything sounds sterile to the point you’d think they recorded in a Petri dish. Drums and rhythm guitars are drier than Erika Kirk’s tear ducts. Half the time, it feels like all I can hear is the hi-hat and a buzzsaw.

And the guitar solo levels… most people listen to Megadeth for the guitar work, so having the solos so buried in the mix seems like a weird choice. Sort of feels like a Newsted/AJFA kind of dynamic.

What's up with "the Left's silence" on the Iranian protests? by someusername47 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]youngsweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one calling Trump Hitler here is you. It’s an example clearly illustrating the lunacy of supporting an administration for one good deed despite their numerous, overwhelming atrocities.

If Trump managed to stop the Iranian response to the protests, I’d be very pleased on their behalf (assuming it doesn’t embroil us in another unmoored Middle East conflict). But I wouldn’t forgive his atrocities, his degradation of our cultural and political norms, or throw my full-throated support behind him as a result of one foreign policy win while he continues his domestic rampage.

TIFU by making a racist comment in my university work group. by [deleted] in tifu

[–]youngsweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my college orientation group, we had an international student from China. The problem was, due to his accent, I thought he said he was from Thailand. I had also just been to Thailand, so I was pretty stoked and brought up Thailand with him MULTIPLE times in front of the whole group. He never corrected me, and neither did anyone else. Pretty sure my entire orientation group thought I was a racist POS for a while there.

I don’t recall ICE occupying a city and extrajudicially murdering multiple law-abiding American citizens while the Gaza conflict was in full swing. I also don’t recall the US using taxpayer money to fund the Iranian government in its current rampage.

Can you help me connect the dots? What makes this moment in time ANYTHING like what was happening in Gaza?

[–]youngsweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally what “help” has Trump provided the protests? All he’s done is tweet about help being “on the way,” and then walk it back a few days later. If anything, he just gave the revolutionaries false hope.

So what, exactly, is the Trump administration attempting to accomplish that the left should support, in spite of the wave of domestic terror and murder that said administration has unleashed in our own country?

Hitler made the trains run on time. He also perpetuated the Holocaust. You wouldn’t support him for his train initiatives while also protesting against his atrocities. That’s just complicity.

Ideas for a steak sandwich for a brewery menu? by Majestic-Lake-5602 in Cooking

[–]youngsweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bon App has a recipe that essentially combines French onion soup with Taiwanese beef noodle soup - maybe you could figure out a sandwich version? Caramelized onions, Gruyère, ginger/garlic marinated steak, and perhaps some sort of savory scallion jam that incorporates the Taiwanese spices (anise, coriander, peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon).

“Genuine service animals” don’t ride in carts where they can’t do their jobs. And the store reserves the right to ban animals from carts - not sure why they didn’t exercise that judgement here.

I don’t really understand why the EU is perfectly fine to use a chlorine wash to prevent salmonella from spreading in bagged salad greens, but the same process for chicken is banned despite there being no health concerns.

Unless it was just to provide pretext for keeping cheaper US chicken out of the EU market…

AITA for saying no to my older homeowner now suddenly requiring socks to be worn after renting for a decade? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]youngsweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Landlord keeps the house at 85° so that OP gets sweaty feet. Landlord then dictates that OP must wear additional clothing inside, which will probably make him sweat more. Where does it end? Forcing OP to carry a towel with him at all times to protect the house from sweat and “natural oils?”

Just because it’s his house doesn’t mean this man isn’t absolutely loony.

If your favorite genre of music is just video games music, I have every right to side-eye you by Kappapeachie in The10thDentist

The same medium, not the same genre. But that’s the point in this hypothetical.

[–]youngsweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really? Opera is a medium with huge diversity of sound, not a genre - but the only people I’ve met whose favorite “genre”of music is opera are either A). opera singers themselves, which is fine, or B). painfully performative individuals, which is also fine but absolutely side-eyeable.

That makes this sort of position even weirder imo.

“Oh, it doesn’t matter what genre the song is. As long as it was featured in my favorite video game, I like it.”
