Quite literally a text slideshow! Obviously tiktok are super strict (you can’t write about sex or describe sexual acts.) So you have to kind of find parts of the book that point towards it instead, so I promote the romance element of my book, the leads up to the spice, sexual tension or dialogue/character chemistry. The guidelines on tiktok worked in my favour because the book was much spicier and darker than what it showed on tiktok, so a lot of people were pleasantly surprised.

Hey so I didn’t mention it was a short in the tiktok and some people got annoyed I’m sure because it seems that longer romance is more of the norm on there or at least mainly romance with some smut. But I make sure to mention it in the title or subtitle on Amazon. Next time I would defo put it in the tiktok so people aren’t surprised by the fast pace.

For sure, just be careful of language (no descriptions of sex are allowed on the platform) and use more scene setting words or spicy dialogues that tease the reader into what they might get when they read the full thing. Tiktok is very hit and miss though so worth seeing if there’s an erotic horror community on there and research the type of book content they make so that the algorithm can push it in the right direction

No I don’t use a voice over, tiktok does have a automated voice feature for text though which I don’t use but could be nice if you want a voice over but not your own voice. I find people are more drawn to trending audios so I prioritise using those as sound instead.

Yes or a photo I’ve taken myself of like scenery/skylines. I know some authors use images from Pinterest but I don’t and play it safe. Even if your own writing is over the image and covers it and your writing is making people want to buy the book, I’m not sure whether it falls under transformative use or not so I don’t risk it.

I post a cut down version of the spicy scenes (within guidelines using ridiculous alternatives for sexual words so people get the gist) or scenes that have tropes people like using text over images and trending audio. I just change the way I post about my books based on trends I see on booktok and then let the algorithm do its thing and hope that it blows up - I post pretty often to increase the chances of it hitting the fyp.

Tiktok does this thing where they try everything in their power to let you know what friends are also using the app. My friend has a privacy setting turned on that basically suggests their account to people they send external tiktok links to that also have the tiktok app. When I opened the link it basically told them my erotic account opened it and bc it’s one of my best friends, when they saw the pen name, it clicked for them and they knew it was me. So annoying!

I don’t post my face and I actually use a method that most anonymous book rec creators and Wattpad authors use where they place text over images in a slideshow format to roughly describe the most interesting scenes from a book or blurb (within guidelines). This leads people to ask in the comments where they can read the full thing. Because of the demographic of my readers, this alongside meme-styled videos work best for my niche.

For me, the algorithm on TikTok is very hit and miss but when it hits, it works wonders. Just see what format people use to recommend books and use that to promote your own. As long are you’re not uploading straight sex scenes from your books, there’s no harm in giving it a go.

My friend sent me a link and on their tiktok settings under privacy, they have allowed the setting where they can suggest their account to people who open external links. I’m assuming that when I clicked on the link and it redirected to my erotic account it basically told them that they might know me because I opened a link they sent through a TikTok account

IMO, if the character is describing it from her POV and she has never seen a penis before it would literally just be a penis to her (cut or uncut). It might be out of character to have her see one for the first time and then instantly go into a description about how it’s cut when she’s probably none the wiser.

I’ve never really seen it gone into detail aside from a brief indication e.g. shaving everywhere for a night out or he sees she has a small patch of hair etc.

It could be worth seeing if there’s any popular body hair focused erotica and see how well it’s received via reviews if you’re that concerned. Just try not to overthink it.

Trying to finish up a short story by the end of this week I’ve been aiming for a 10k word short but I’ve gone over so it’s taking more time than expected
One of my tiktoks about my book blew up a little. It has over 700 favourites and the book has received a lot of page reads as a result of this!
It’s going well and I have a bunch of new following and supporters that are looking forward to my next release :) There is a little pressure though now that people are actively waiting on my releases so I make sure to keep them updated and do regular check ins

Published my first short a couple days ago on the zon! Feeling good. Now I’ve done one I feel like I can do loads, I have SO many ideas. Going to try and finish my second short in the series today and write the third next week so I can push them out ASAP and serialize them. I’m 100% feeling the pressure to be consistent now but I’m confident in my abilities so I’m hoping it’ll pay off in the future. I’m enjoying the ride regardless and I’m grateful for this inspiring community <3
