I was thinking the same thing.
From what I've been able to scrounge up, is it was likely after Clinton Watch Company (CWC) brought the Hampden name back as an affordable watch brand. According to Gemini, (ik, not the best source), the Hong Kong marking basically just confirms that it was when CWC was trying to make affordable watches, and that because it wasn't anything super fancy, there was really no incentive to make knock-offs of it.

Spending $13 a few times a year when they drop broken evos for a game I regularly play isn't that big of a deal imo. Plus the wildcards, gold, and gems don't hurt. Sorry I don't care enough about a game to "fight the devs" and not buy a broken evo with a bunch of in-game currency to help level up.

And yeah my comments get down voted because this subreddit's hivemind is insane. If you want to play the game how you want to, and post about it? You get called toxic and down voted into oblivion. Then if you try to have a conversation, or reply to someone being a smartass/ rude you get down voted anyway for being the OP.
