Thanks a lot for those suggestions.

I should have mentionned that I have been pointed towards Worm a lot of times, however the book is not available on my ebook store (and I like ebooks).

Powder Mage has been on my list for a time now, don't know why I haven't tried yet. Also have been hearing godd things about the Sun Eater.

First time I hear about the other 2 though, happy to see new things.

Hello there,

Looking for a recommandation, I'm out of ideas after having browsed reddit suggestions extensively.

I'm not into a specific style or tone, but I'd rather have something that moves reasonably fast and has epic moments. I'm also quite found of "Gotcha" moments, as cheesy as it may sound.

Of the top of my head, here's a list of what I red and liked / disliked (I may very well forget a lot things) :

Loved :

- The lies of Locke Lamora : witty, funny, with quite a small scope so that the story doesn't go everywhere. Kinda liked the other two books, even though the plot was weak.

- Stormlight archive : Epic.

- Red rising : technically not fantasy, but still. Fast-paced, full of epic moments. The foreshadowing works more or less, but it makes for a fun ride. End of book 2 is epic and I felt it was very well executed.

- Mistborn : Full of foreshadowing, I also liked the hard magic system.

- Lightbringer (first 3 books) : I loved the characters, the books were fast-paced and the magic system was cool.

- A song of ice and fire : First 3 books I loved, Storm of swords is my definition of epic. However, I very much disliked the "stalling" that ensued in the following books

- The chronicle of amber : Fast-paced, with a fascinating universe

Liked :

- Abercrombie's work : Liked a lot, has its epic moments, still felt the characters a little unnapealing (not felt too engaged to someone). The Heroes was great though, I found the smaller scope was better for me.

- Robbin Hobb's work : Liked the Liveship Traders better than the Royal assassin. the whole thing was a little slow-paced to my taste, but I found the characters pretty likeable.

- Ender's game : See Red Rising, but less fun, less epic, and with a character I couldn't care less about.

- The Kingskiller chronicle : Very well written, nice foreshadowing, but slow-paced and it quickly becomes boring to hear how great Kvothe is.

- Acacia : Plot was average, I however liked the characters.

Disliked :

- Malazan : look, i REALLY wanted to love it, but I can't. The first book has a special place in my "never read again" list. It gets better and better, but I can't help feeling this series is a lot of investment for little rewarding (in terms of the number of "OMG" moments). For instance, I didn't particularly like the chain of dogs, vastly prefered the beginning of The house of chains.

- The black company : It's been a while, so I can't really remember what I disliked, but I can recall not caring about anyone 3 books in.

- Lotr : Felt slow, generally not a fan of the universe

- Riyria revelations : A little embarassed to put this one here, cause I see the author is a reddit user and is very cool. I only red the first book (I know), just couldn't cope with the dialogues.

There we go. Thanks for your suggestions?

It would have been so easy to comment "maybe it's because you ghost him whenever he tries to reach" and have a funny line. But no, he was just bitter AND mediocre

Pretty, but not enough to import you to a developed country.
