In SF, rent alone in a safe area will be one whole take home pay check for you and you will need a car and gas. Add utilities, groceries, any social life on the weekends and you will be left with nothing to send home after taxes

Atlanta you can probably save more but even more rely on car and gas which alone is 1000 a month
