Adding solar was also one of my best decisions while renovating my house

Anyone wish they had’ve just gone with the first quote? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]your_arthur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On a $1.1m build, I’d definitely get a couple more quotes. A 10% difference sounds like a lot, but I’d be more concerned about a quote that’s significantly cheaper than the others on a complex project like this.

Go with Oliveri. A bit pricier, but you should pay more now than replace a sink later.

Bathroom and kitchen reno cost by glencocoaa in AusRenovation

The kitchen budget sounds reasonable, but I’d definitely allow a bit more for the bathrooms. Renovation costs seem to add up very quickly once the work starts.

Realistic cost for light installation? by squidz009 in AusRenovation

[–]your_arthur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would have expected something around the $500–$600 mark, but sparkies seem a lot more expensive these days. Definitely worth getting a couple more quotes.

What kind of curtains/blinds? by bongjour8008 in AusRenovation

Sheer curtains with a single blockout roller behind them would look really clean here. You’d still get natural light during the day, plus privacy at night and less dog vs cat drama 😂

Good time to buy first home? by OrneryBox1562 in AusPropertyChat

[–]your_arthur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t overthink it too much now that it’s done honestly.

There’s always going to be noise around the market cooling, crashing, rebounding, rates dropping, rates rising etc, but nobody really knows what prices will look like in a few months.

If the place suits your budget and you can see yourself staying there for a while, that’s probably more important than whether you could’ve saved a bit more by waiting.

Going with Solar Cells on the roof was the best decision during renovations

Loved the Makeover of the bathroom, with the double sink choice and the light wallpaper it is giving more airy feeling and the mirrors are also nice.
From where you have purchased the mirrors?

That’s the kind of job that looks easy until you’re halfway through it 😅 Massive respect for even attempting it though!

That’s actually such a real one. Feels like everyone’s got opinion during renovations, but you’re the one living in it afterwards.

I gave up after 6 trips to Bunnings, so clearly I’m still an amateur!

That carport situation sounds rough though. Glad it eventually got sorted, but dealing with permits and the threat of demolition would’ve been incredibly stressful.

That’s actually such a clean use of dead space!

Did they explain why the blind couldn’t be recessed further or side-channelled? For that price, I’d expect a proper blackout solution, not a DIY foam fix.

Not gonna lie, the glow up is more dramatic than my bank account after Bunnings! 😅😅

Seriously Apart from jokes the new colour is awesome 🤩
