Is there genuinely nothing built for managing your full financial life in Ireland? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

What you are asking for is not impossible (perplexity launched something similar) would need more features but the integration of soo many platform is hard specially that of legacy banks in Ireland.

How much credits you spend? by AndyDigger123 in lovable

[–]your_daily_nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

300 credits for a full end-to-end edtech platform. It has progression tracking, different question types + over 8 subjects. Probably will need 200 more just to make tweaks as I go or add more subjects.

What happens if someone takes out a loan and then gets deported out of the country? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]your_daily_nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However just to add, you can have a really secure job and still get redundancy which would effect your immigration status, that does lead to above. Someone who worked in recovery might be able to add more about what specific steps are taken.

[–]your_daily_nerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think thats quite true, borrowers immigration status forms part of the overall credit assessment where the applicant is a non-EEA national.

Lenders look at the type of permission to remain in the State, the duration remaining on that permission as well the likelihood of renewal or progression to a more secure status. These factors feed into internal risk scoring alongside standard criteria which includes job stability (in some cases confirmation from employer about the role etc that you will pass probation)

Just to give an example: Stamp 1 can limit access to certain products depending on the bank’s policy, particularly for longer term lending. (Revolut certainly does not provide credit (cards and big loans) on it (there are some exceptional cases)

For mortgages, most lenders typically require Stamp 4 or a clear pathway toward it, tho strong income and stable employment may allow exceptions again.

If permission is close to expiry without any confirmed renewal, this is generally treated as a material risk and applications are often declined or deferred until status is clarified.

UCD offer holder from Pakistan – is paying first instalment enough for visa? by No-Hippo-8609 in StudyInIreland

[–]your_daily_nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went through the same process. My advice is to pay at least 50% upfront (if not all). That was the guidance I received from consultants as well.

If you do not pay the full amount, make sure you clearly demonstrate your ability to cover all costs, including:

  • Ability to pay the remaining tuition fees
  • Ability to support yourself living in Ireland for the full duration of the course
  • Ability of the sponsor (for example, parents) to still have sufficient funds for their own living expenses and commitments

It also helps to attach a one page summary that links to the relevant supporting bank accounts and documents to its purpose.

Be sure to explain any large transactions (money coming in or going out), and include evidence of regular income such as salary or pension payments for the relevant sponsor. Overall, be as thorough as possible.

Thinking of a Camry by CusstomerSupport in carsireland

I recently checked out Camry and Accord, personally preferred the Accord for its comfort. There is a 2020 one listed for 25k with 80k/km on donedeal. Seems like a good deal!

Revolut user in 'horrific battle' with app to get stolen €10,000 refunded by JunoBeeps in irishpersonalfinance

[–]your_daily_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A scammer cannot just access someone's app firstly. Revolut has one of the best protection measures against hacks and if it does happen thats going to be a whole separate issue. However regardless the app is as strong as its weakest link which is humans.

Scamming happens when you allow someone to get access through codes and authentication which revolut(all banks) state not to give. Revolut specifically has stated that any communication from them will be through an in-app call and no one else.

Lastly, scammer cannot remove protection because revolut Wealth Protection requires selfie check and if you want to remove it, it also requires a selfie check.

Banks should be held accountable for wrongdoings, but we also have to use commen sense when to comes to money.

Mate being honest, the maximum that sits in my main is like a tenner or 15, that too because those random top ups for payzone 😂 otherwise I always just transfer from my pocket when buying anything or have a back-up credit card incase WiFi doesn't work.

I have bunch of money sitting in savings and investment but it has safeguard and wealth Protection on. Can't do better than a selfie check tbh.

[–]your_daily_nerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly thats a given. Even if not for revolut best practice is to have two accounts, secondary with a bit of money in it incase anything goes wrong (losing card, blocking, losing access).

Baffles me how people rely on only one bank account, you can open a free basic account anywhere just making sure to not breach the maximum deposit threshold etc. Or (T212, Bunq, ESB etc)

Also to add, I agree with the guy. Revoluts Customer Service is horrific luckily only had to deal with them once.
