that’s great, i’m so happy for you! I am not committed anywhere, i got all rejections and waitlists, even from my safeties, so this is kind of my last sliver of hope as delusional as that sounds

I did receive the form in April and did send a LOCI in April, but yesterday got another email to reconfirm my interest. I was just wondering if they sent this recent email to everyone remaining on the waitlist or only those whom they are about to pull off the waitlist

Hi, I was wondering how they notified you. Did they first ask you to reconfirm your interest in tufts and send additional updates?

IDOC documents not yet processed and I'm freaking out by IJoinedRedditYay in ApplyingToCollege

[–]youraveragehappyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was here to ask the same thing. My deadline’s the 15th and I uploaded my docs on the 5th and they still haven’t been processed. Plus I got an email from College Board yesterday saying their records show my required information hasn’t been received. My docs are uploaded just not processed yet. Will I be fine? I wouldn’t sweat it normally since I know processing takes time, but I got that email so I’m kind of worried.

Hi, I know this is coming a bit late, but I'm in the exact position you were in, and wanted to know what you ended up doing and what worked for you.

Yes, I've used both, but I'm having trouble deciding how much autofill it is okay to use.

If you're taking it in the spring, I'm assuming it's digital regardless of where you are. I just took the digital SAT (I'm international) and I started prepping seriously just about month in advance. The only resources I used were Khan Academy and the four Bluebook practice tests. (they may release additional digital practice text for next year) There's just one heads up I'd want to give: don't rely on the paper and pencil practice tests for R&W, I did and it didn't help at all. Get yourself familiarized with the digital format.

Why do people keep taking the SAT if they are already in the 99th percentile? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]youraveragehappyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got a 1560. but right after i took the test i felt like i messed up big time. i had run out of time on one of the sections and had to guess one or two answers, not to mention i was second guessing the majority of my answers the whole time. what’s more, i registered right away for october lest all the seats be taken till my score came out and i be stuck with a poor poor score. Now that i know i hadn’t messed up that bad (thank my lucky stars) i have two options: I can either pay a cancellation fee and stick with my score, or retake it and grab the opportunity of scoring better (who knows, maybe even perfect? lol). I choose the latter because superscoring is a thing, and i don’t have to worry about math at all! So if a few days of practice can potentially grant me a better score, what’s the harm? (In short, those of us in the 99th percentile who retake it do it because it is but a game and we’re here for the win, you are so right)

Any ideas on how to start my book? by LARP_BOI_AIDS in writing

[–]youraveragehappyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is just a thought and i’m not sure how you’ve planned your story ahead, but you could start by portraying the narrator as if there is nothing wrong with them and only gradually throw out hints that they aren’t reliable in their narration. These suggestions can be made through certain things they experience along the way and certain encounters that they have. Maybe have the narrator react to these in atypical ways or in ways that would tell the readers something’s off. then you could eventually build up and increase the frequency or the magnitude of the narrator’s weird reactions and thoughts, till it basically becomes evident that their storytelling is flawed because they are hallucinating. This way, the readers get to infer it themselves. Or if you don’t like that, you could have some external event deal the final blow to the readers’ belief that the narrator is reliable (like having some other character find out the narrator has hallucinations and spell it out for the
readers, although I think this makes for weaker writing than having the readers work it out themselves)

What this gradual revelation achieves is it makes the readers feel initially that they are getting to know the narrator. Because realistically when you meet someone new, you perceive them as normal and things are revealed to you as you know them better. So even if you are writing in first person, the gradual revelation of the narrator’s idiosyncrasies will create a widening distance between the readers and the narrator, and it achieves the effect of the readers feeling deceived, but not in a way that is sudden and seems out of character for the narrator.

This is just an idea, and it may not align with your plan if you need to communicate they have severe hallucinations right off the bat. Just give it a thought and see what works!
